NBC News reports ‘Kanye punked Trump,’ Mar-a-Lago dinner a setup ‘to make Trump’s life miserable’

With the hysteria building to a fever pitch in the latest coordinated effort by media and his enemies in both parties to end the political career of former President Donald J. Trump, the plot has thickened over his dinner with rapper Kanye West and uninvited guest, conservative commentator Nick Fuentes.

According to a provocative new report from NBC News, Trump’s meeting with the two controversial guests may have been a setup and a trap to damage him politically in the firestorm that ensued shortly after the ex-POTUS announced his intention to run for the White House in 2024.

In the story of the pre-thanksgiving dinner that quickly turned into a nightmare, NBC’s Marc Caputo writes that Trump may have “been walking into a trap in Mar-a-Lago’s gilded halls — one that leveraged his own penchant for spectacle and showmanship against him” with Ye who arranged the high-profile breaking of bread, deliberately ambushing him by bringing along  Fuentes – who has been widely condemned as an antisemite and white nationalist – unbeknownst to his host.

Caputo reports that “One longtime Trump adviser, who didn’t want to go on the record criticizing his preferred candidate, said it was clear that Fuentes’ presence was part of a headline-grabbing setup and that the adviser remarked “’The master troll got trolled’ and “Kanye punked Trump.”

The NBC News report also says that Trump was livid over West’s headline-grabbing invitation of Fuentes to the private dinner between the men, believing that the rapper had “betrayed him by ambushing him,” with the presence of Fuentes providing fuel to Democrats, the media as well as establishment GOP foes of Trump including Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence and Mitt Romney, an opening to torpedo his 2024 run before it gets out of the gates.

“He tried to f— me. He’s crazy. He can’t beat me,” Trump fumed, “according to one confidant, who then relayed the conversation to NBC News on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations,” Caputo reported.

“Trump was totally blindsided,” the unnamed confidant said of the presence of the toxic Fuentes “It was a setup.”

“We saw everybody in the dining room get up and start applauding, and then the president entered,” Fuentes told the outlet “He greeted us, and he invited Ye into dinner and Ye said that he wanted to bring us with him to the table. So we walked in and Ye took some pictures with some of the guests in the dining room and then we sat down at the table,” sitting at a specially reserved table on the patio “for all to see,” per Fuentes.

The dinner conversation also reportedly did not go well with West criticizing Trump for not doing enough to help protesters who were arrested for the so-called “insurrection” at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and that the rapper/entrepreneur informed the ex-POTUS that he may also run for the White House and that Trump should be his running mate, “all of which angered the former president, who attacked Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian,” the outlet reported.

Trump, who has denied knowing Fuentes, gave his own account of the dinner on Truth Social:

“Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was asking me for advice concerning some of his difficulties, in particular having to do with his business. We also discussed, to a lesser extent, politics, where I told him he should definitely not run for President, ‘any voters you may have should vote for TRUMP.’ Anyway, we got along great, he expressed no anti-Semitism, & I appreciated all of the nice things he said about me on ‘Tucker Carlson.’ Why wouldn’t I agree to meet? Also, I didn’t know Nick Fuentes,” he wrote on Friday as criticism over his breaking bread with the uninvited guest mounted.

Also quoted by NBC is former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos who took credit for masterminding the dinner “’just to make Trump’s life miserable because news of the dinner would leak and Trump would mishandle it.”

“I wanted to show Trump the kind of talent that he’s missing out on by allowing his terrible handlers to dictate who he can and can’t hang out with,” Yiannopoulos told the outlet.“I also wanted to send a message to Trump that he has systematically repeatedly neglected, ignored, abused the people who love him the most, the people who put him in office, and that kind of behavior comes back to bite you in the end.”

According to NBC News, “In damage control, Trump’s campaign is now instituting new vetting procedures and gatekeeping efforts as details emerge about how Fuentes and the former president found themselves at the same table, according to two people briefed on the plans.”
