NC Dems reject candidate calling for violence against Republicans, comparing herself to Jesus

Democrats are quickly distancing themselves from a North Carolina House candidate who, it appears, is out of her fragernackle mind.

Shelly Headen, who’s running against incumbent Rep. John Blust, evidently wants to imprison and kill her fellow Americans.

Case in point: Sometime last year, Headen responded to a group chat post from someone who’d written that America needs to be “put in its place” by calling for “stupid” Americans to be killed, according to The Carolina Journal.

“I think our only hope is an attack on US Soil … preferably Alabama, Louisiana … where the stupid people live,” Headen reportedly wrote in the group chat.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg.

After then-Vice President Kamala Harris was anointed as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in 2024, Headen wrote the following on the social media platform X: “I’m so excited! Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!”

The tweet remains up, though it’s been flagged as violent speech.

In an anti-Trump Facebook group last year, she wrote that “maybe” Trump supporters “need to experience sexual assault so they can experience what Trump’s victims feel.”

While posting in the same group, she responded to a post praising Luigi Mangione by writing, “I think America is beyond peaceful protest!”

In a LinkedIn comment published last year, she suggested that Trump supporters are more evil than the Nazis.

“He is the most disgusting human being who has ever walked the Earth and I think the damage he has done is getting close to surpassing Hilter [sic],” she wrote in reference to President Donald Trump. “In addition, I think his MAGA cult may be more destructive and evil than the Nazis.”

And then there’s this:

The woman is a complete nutter, and as a result of her nuttery, other Democrats are rightly distancing themselves from her.

“Within hours of an … inquiry to state party leaders, a spokesman for the House Democratic caucus said the group will no longer support Shelly Headen,” according to The Assembly.

Sam Lozier, the communications director for the North Carolina House Democratic Caucus, condemned all of the posts in a public statement.

“Shelly Headen’s posts are unacceptable and do not reflect the values we expect of our candidates,” Lozier said. The North Carolina House Democratic Caucus condemns these comments without qualification and will not support Shelly Headen’s candidacy.”

North Carolina House Speaker Destin Hall, a Republican, also slammed Headen:

Confronted by The Assembly about her posts, she was blasé about them.

“I can’t remember what I’ve posted,” she said. “I’ve been very vocal against MAGA.”

When told that other Democrats are now distancing themselves from her, Headen compared herself to Jesus.

“I’ve sacrificed myself just like Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross, and Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln and all the people that put themselves out there to sacrifice for our country,” she said.

“If a few angry moments on social media are the end, then so be it,” she added. “MAGA will keep winning if we continue with not standing up for what’s right.”
