Nearly 1 in 3 American voters want incoming GOP to focus on Biden impeachment investigation: poll

A new poll indicates that nearly one in three American voters want the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to investigate and potentially impeach President Biden for numerous actions he has taken while in office, specifically in connection to his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

A Morning Consult-Politico poll showed 28 percent of voters want the proceedings to begin. Just 6 percent of Democrats think the impeachment of Biden is important while 55 percent of Republicans want to go after the president.

The threat of impeachment for Biden has been on the table for a long time, beginning with his catastrophic handling of the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. A number of Republicans have vowed to impeach him if the GOP regained control of the House in the midterm elections, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is expected to take the helm. The GOP has voted for him to lead the way but he still has to win votes on the floor when the next Congress assembles in January in order to become Speaker of the House. Although his response has not been overly enthusiastic when it comes to the impeachment of Biden, it is widely expected he will back it.

In an interview with CNN earlier in November, McCarthy claimed he would not pursue impeachment proceedings for “political purposes,” but also said that “doesn’t mean if something rises to the occasion it would not be used.”

Other investigations are on the horizon as well. Republicans are intent on investigating Hunter Biden thoroughly.

One in three Americans also supports investigating Hunter Biden according to the poll. Approximately seven percent of Democrats and 52 percent of Republicans want the next Congress to investigate him.

President Biden, 80, is brushing off the threats calling possible impeachment probes “almost comedy.”

“It was reported — whether it’s accurate or not, I’m not sure — but it was reported many times that Republicans are saying and the former president said, how many times you’re gonna impeach Biden?” Biden said at a post-midterm elections press conference at the White House. “I think the American people will look at all of that for what it is. It’s just almost comedy.”

“Lots of luck in your senior year, as my coach used to say,” Biden said when asked for his message to Republicans wanting to investigate him and his family.

“I think the American public wants us to move on and get things done for them,” he asserted.

“Look, I can’t control what they’re going to do. All I can do is continue to try to make life better for American people,” Biden fecklessly remarked.

Republicans also want to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his incompetent handling of the border surge. In fiscal year 2022, there were a record 2.76 million undocumented immigrant crossings, 1 million more than in the previous year, according to Customs and Border Protection data.

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah), who is a member of the House Intelligence Committee, appeared on Glenn Beck’s program last week, claiming that the House will go after Biden and Democrats are panicking over it.

“[T]hey’re marshaling their forces, because they know a catastrophe is coming for the administration. And that is, the truth is finally going to be revealed. And it’s going to be revealed in such a way, that it can’t be ignored,” he said.

“I think the evidence of this is potentially so overwhelming that I don’t think it’s impossible that the Senate doesn’t actually convict. I think it’s possible that the evidence is again so overwhelming that they may have no choice,” Stewart contended.

The Morning Consult-Politico poll was conducted Nov. 10-14, interviewing 1,983 registered voters. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.
