The Miami Herald and MSNBC drew mockery and criticism over “breaking” news that allegedly linked former President Donald Trump with deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
The report which was shared on MSNBC by host Nicolle Wallace as if it were a groundbreaking piece of journalism claimed a chartered plane once belonging to Epstein was reportedly used to fly to campaign fundraisers after Trump’s own aircraft experienced technical difficulties on the way to an event in Bozeman, Montana, last week.
“In new reporting from the Miami Herald that we want to tell you about,” Wallace said, “they’ve confirmed in the last hour that former President Donald Trump’s campaign flew in a blue Gulfstream jet formerly owned by sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.”

“The campaign had no awareness that the charter plane had been owned by Mr. Epstein,” a Trump campaign spokeswoman said, telling the Miami Herald that the charter plane came through a vendor used by the campaign. “We heard about the former owner through the media.”
“According to flight data, the plane is now owned by an Ontario, California company, Threshold Aviation Group, which offers private charter service. The company’s website indicates its planes are housed in a hangar in Chino, California,” the outlet noted.
According to the Miami Herald:
The campaign spokeswoman confirmed that a decal with the words “Trump 2024” was placed on Epstein’s old plane for the trip. Trump’s own private plane, a 757 named “Trump Force One,” was having mechanical difficulties, which led them to land in Billings, about two hours east of Bozeman. After Bozeman, Trump used Epstein’s old plane to travel Saturday to a fundraiser in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and then to Aspen and Denver. “Trump Force One” was then able to pick Trump up in Denver. Epstein’s old plane was only used one day, the spokeswoman said.
Despite the media’s desperate attempts to link Trump with the convicted sexual offender, the Herald admitted that although “tens of thousands of pages of documents have been unsealed in various Epstein civil cases, none of the documents released to date have credibly implicated Trump in Epstein’s trafficking crimes.”
While pearl-clutching leftists were fed the “breaking” news about Trump, there was a collective eye-roll on social media over the “nothing-burger.”
Why is this news?

OMG who cares? Concentrate on making Kamala do a damn interview.
— Bluesteel (@Backtheblue911) August 12, 2024
“Once owned”? For real this is a story? Zero journalistic integrity.
— Lady Lawyer (@LadyLawyerUSA) August 12, 2024
The media is more interested in the entire history of ownership of a plane that Trump chartered while his is in maintenance, than covering Epstein’s client list and victims.

Really MSNBC? This is pathetic even for your normal coverage.
— Theology in FIve (@TheologyinFive) August 12, 2024
How is this a news story? They rented the most available private jet because theirs broke down; doesn’t matter who owned it
— George (@BehizyTweets) August 12, 2024
Damn y’all are REALLY reaching now
— Hodgetwins (@hodgetwins) August 12, 2024
So his plane malfunctions…they have to rent a private jet…the one they’re given is owned by someone who bought it from Epstein.
This is news how? This is Trumps fault, how?
The DNC is having Bill Clinton speak and he was at the island 36 times…and was named by victims in…
