Newsmax employee murdered, allegedly by her own son, tributes pouring in

A Newsmax makeup artist who worked on host Greta Van Susteren’s show was shot and killed by her own son in Virginia on Sunday.

After receiving a report of a shooting that morning, the Arlington County Police rushed to an apartment where they found the body of Newsmax makeup artist Travis Renee Baldwin.

“Upon arrival, officers located an adult female inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” the police said.

“Officers administered lifesaving measures before medics transported her to a local hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital,” their report continued.

Baldwin’s 27-year-old son, Logan Chrisinger, was at her home at the time and was immediately taken into custody on charges of murder in the first degree, aggravated malicious wounding, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He’s being held without bail.

Police have since classified the shooting as a “domestic-related homicide.”

According to Washington, D.C., station WTTG, Baldwin’s other son, John, told them that Chrisinger had called his mother hours before the shooting, prompting her to rush over to his apartment in Arlington.

“She didn’t tell me why, but from what I understand, from what I could tell, I knew there was something going on,” he said.

It’s not clear what happened afterward.

Ever since word of Baldwin’s death spread, tributes have been pouring in left and right, including from Van Susteren.

“What sadness….my Newsmax make up artist of 3 1/2 years, and years at @ABC @espn etc and a friend to all of her colleagues…was murdered over the weekend…she did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her…,” the longtime TV personality tweeted Tuesday.

Newsmax White House producer Marisela Ramirez also paid tribute to Baldwin.

“Renee had a giving heart and a gypsy spirit, but really she was a quiet warrior, supporting her family and carrying the weight of a household on her shoulders—without complaints,” she wrote.

“Still she always asked others how they were doing: ‘how was your move?’, ‘how is your love life’, and well timed ‘how are yous’, always keen to listen without judgement,” she added.

Former Newsmax employee Amber Duke, now with the Daily Caller, likewise wrote that Baldin “was a kind, generous, funny woman who always brightened the day of anyone who sat in her chair.”

“Fridays at Newsmax were something I looked forward to because I knew we’d get to gossip, talk about our upcoming travel plans, our pets, and any good wines we were drinking. She will be dearly missed,” Duke added.

Meanwhile, Virginia Allen of the Daily Signal described Baldwin as “honest, loving, and so talented.”
