California Governor Gavin Newsom insisted that he’s a loyal footsoldier for President Joe Biden who could soon be ousted as the 2024 nominee by members of his own party.
In a preview of an interview with Robert Costa of CBS News, the Sacramento slickster rejected the chatter that he’d be on the shortlist to sweep to the Democrats’ rescue if the mentally deficient octogenarian is soon shoved into retirement.
California Governor Gavin Newsom tells Robert Costa he is “all in, no daylight” on President Joe Biden’s reelection. And he says he’s dismissing any calls for his own presidential bid. More, Sunday. https://t.co/AnbUaYMcBc pic.twitter.com/lEvzWqN4vd

“You’re not just a surrogate, you’re somebody who’s getting text messages and emails every day to consider running,” asked Costa. “How do you handle all of that?”
Newsom responded, “Delete, delete, delete, delete, uh, ‘Thank you,’ delete, and rinse, repeat. I’m all in. No daylight.”
“You never even engage in it privately?” Costa asked.
“Absolutely not. I know one thing, everything you do in private becomes public, even private thoughts seem to manifest publicly, so, not a chance,” the governor laughingly answered.
The ambitious Newsom’s shooting down of speculation that he may have cast a longing eye on the White House was posted to the network’s X account as a teaser for the full interview which will air on “CBS Sunday Morning” as the pressure gets dialed up on Biden to step aside.
The Golden State governor was the subject of buzz that he was putting himself into the running to replace the mentally feeble 81-year-old over his recent presence in the swing state of New Hampshire although he was careful to couch his public remarks in support for Biden.
“I decided instead of just rolling over and giving up, that I would step up and pick up the fight,” Newsom told reporters at a highway rest stop in the Granite State, according to the Associated Press. “He’s going to be our nominee.”
Newsom also insisted that Biden’s not going anywhere in a recent post to X while also defending his fellow Californian, VP Kamala Harris, from “racist” suggestions that the loopy DEI hire only got her gig because of her gender and skin color.

Newsom has previously denied that he’s interested in being a replacement for Biden, claiming such talk was “idle chatter” and a “sideshow” being promoted by conservative pundits.

“I think it’s a damning conversation, frankly, the other side wants us to have. And trust me, I know the mishegoss coming from the other side. I’m deeply mindful of the anger machine and all the entertainment industry out there on Fox and elsewhere. They love ginning this stuff up,” he told NBC’s Kristen Welker during an appearance on “Meet the Press” in February.
But that was before Biden’s epic implosion at the CNN debate two weeks ago, a performance so bad that the Democratic Party spiraled into a state of chaos less than four months before the election.
Biden has adamantly insisted that he has no intention of stepping down.
