The National Football League has reportedly fined Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs for a celebration during last Sunday’s home game in which he imitated pro-wrestling legend Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Diggs, the top target of Bills quarterback Josh Allen, celebrated the scoring of his second-quarter touchdown in a 48-20 bludgeoning of the division-rival Miami Dolphins by grabbing two beers from the stands, bashing them together, and then spraying foam into the crowd like the WWE star used to do in the ring during his career.

Diggs would go on to score 3 touchdowns in the rout, racking up 120 yards on six receptions, and after the game was quoted as saying “Yeah, I owe somebody $18” for the two brews that he grabbed from fans.
“I was happy,” the receiver said after the game. “This football thing, you never know how it’s gonna show up. … I feel like we came out with the right mindset of guys are blocking their asses off. The touchdowns, it’s all the glitz and the glam, but the big guys don’t get enough credit. You need a lot of things to happen for me to catch the ball and for me to make some plays, so I want to give them all the credit.”
But it would cost the Pro Bowler much more after the league fined him $13,659 for unsportsmanlike conduct even though his beer-spraying didn’t draw a flag for excessive celebration from the refs on the field, according to Fox News.
There is a good reason why the NFL has often been referred to as the “No Fun League” and fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to whistle the league offices for a flagrant foul.

NFL celebrates players freedom of speech for kneeling during the national anthem and disrespecting the American flag but punishes a player for “unsportsmanlike conduct” for crushing a couple of tin cans. Yeah, that’s about right. Confused cowards and money grabbers.@NFL

If @budlight was smart they’d sponsor the fine. A little good PR goes a long way in Buffalo.

It is weird that players who do dirty hits don’t always get fined but fun celebrations always do.

Once again showing why they’re on the short list of Super Bowl contenders, the Bills brought the Fins crashing back down to Earth after their 70-20 Hulk-smashing of the Denver Broncos the previous week in a collision of high-octane offense and inept defense that saw the greatest number of points scored by an NFL team in nearly 60 years.
The 3-1 Bills traveled across the pond for this week’s NFL game in London where they are taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
