Nikki Haley calls for ‘Haley Voters for Harris’ to stand down

Former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is calling for a group using her name to promote the White House candidacy of VP Kamala Harris to stop doing so.

The political action committee (PAC) that was previously named “Haley Voters for Biden” before switching to “Haley Voters for Harris” was told by the former GOP presidential candidate that it needed to “cease and desist” from using her name to falsely represent her support for the presumptive Democrat nominee.

“Kamala Harris and I are total opposites on every issue. Any attempt to use my name to support her or her agenda is deceptive and wrong,” Haley said in a Tuesday statement reported by Fox News. “I support Donald Trump because he understands we need to make America strong, safe, and prosperous.”

In a letter to the pro-Harris group from Haley’s lawyers that was first reported by Fox News, the group was told to “cease and desist from any unlawful use of Ambassador Haley’s name in your political action committee name, and from any use of her name, image or likeness that implies her support for the election of Kamala Harris as President of the United States.”

“Any use by you of Ambassador Haley’s name, image, or likeness is without her permission. Ambassador Haley has been clear in her support of Harris’ opponent. Any intimation that Ambassador Haley supports Harris is intentionally false and misleading,” reads the letter which warns that if it raises money under its new or a similar name, Haley’s campaign will “alert investigative authorities, including the Justice Department and the FBI,” Fox News reported.

Haley fiercely attacked Trump during her campaign, with the Biden-Harris campaign regularly using her remarks to attack the former president. She eventually endorsed him after ending her campaign after a string of brutal primary losses and spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, WI last week.

“Haley Voters for Harris” reacted with a defiant statement posted to X.

“We enthusiastically supported @NikkiHaley over former President Trump in the primaries,” the group said. “Our rights to engage with likeminded voters and encourage them to vote for @KamalaHarris – the clear better choice for the country – will not be suppressed.”

“Just a reminder: We sent over 2.1 million text messages and mailers to 1.1 million people in 9 states to encourage voters across the political spectrum to vote for @NikkiHaley over Trump. We’ve more than earned the right to encourage Haley voters to vote for @KamalaHarris,” the group added in another post.

Haley slammed Harris in her RNC speech, saying that she “had one job… and that was to fix the border. Now imagine her in charge of the entire country.”
