It would appear that being a major Democrat donor is one way to receive preferential treatment when your house of cards finally collapses.
Just ask Representative Maxine Waters, D-Calif. Critics are accusing her of treating disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried with kid gloves by allowing him to dictate whether he will show up to testify before the House Financial Services Committee, which Waters chairs. While she says she would “welcome” his participation, she apparently has no plans to subpoena him if he does not show up.
Being the second-largest donor of the last election cycle has some interesting perks.
.@SBF_FTX, we appreciate that you’ve been candid in your discussions about what happened at #FTX. Your willingness to talk to the public will help the company’s customers, investors, and others. To that end, we would welcome your participation in our hearing on the 13th.

Social media wasn’t exactly surprised to hear about the comfortable treatment Democrats are extending:
SB-F made some … prudent purchases while in DC.
