The situation at the nation’s southern border could get even worse if Democrat nominee Kamala Harris ends up sitting in the Oval Office with a mass exodus of Border Patrol agents being a distinct possibility.
Since being tabbed as the nation’s “border czar” by President Joe Biden, Harris has largely ignored her job as the country was overrun by millions of illegal aliens including gang members, murderers, and rapists and a Harris administration would be a green light for a thug invasion on steroids.
If there is a President Harris, many of the dedicated professionals who have been overwhelmed while performing a thankless job could soon seek new careers and a handful of them told the New York Post that they would rather move on than be subjected to another four years of “being undermined and scapegoated.”
“I’m not doing this s–t again … four years of hell,” said one agent who wasn’t near retirement.
“Lots of guys who can retire will go. If Trump wins, they’ll stay,” another told the outlet.
The National Border Patrol Council, the union for the Border Patrol, endorsed Trump on Monday, supporting the candidate who has their back.

Poor morale due to a lack of support from Washington, D.C. has already led to a staffing shortage at the federal law enforcement agency since Harris and Biden took office and rolled out the welcome mat for foreign criminals.
Earlier this year, the Washington Examiner reported that “More than 4,000 federal agents have left the Border Patrol since October 2020. Twice as many agents have chosen to retire early compared to retirement rates during the Obama and Trump administrations.”
“The administration is so bad for morale,” one unnamed senior Border Patrol official told the outlet. “I’m not trying to be political. I’m just speaking facts. It’s become so political. Catch and release is demoralizing for agents.”
On Sunday, Trump said that he’d hire 10,000 new Border Patrol agents and implement a $10,000 retention and signing bonus if elected. Harris has also paid lip service to the problem that she helped to create with campaign pledges to beef up the agency.
However, agents who spoke anonymously to the New York Post out of fear of reprisals said that Kamala would likely take office facing a “massive staffing crisis at the agency” if she becomes president.
“We will have another exodus just because we will have a bunch of 20-year agents saying peace out,” one agent told the outlet, adding that he was “absolutely sure” that he’ll be leaving if the “border czar” wins the election.
“Under this administration, they’ve done everything they could to make our job as inefficient as possible. They can’t outwardly tell us not to do our job, but when you’re watching criminals come in and get released it sucks,” one agent told the Post.
Morale is so bad that the agency had to bring in a suicidologist. There were a record 15 suicides among Customs and Border Protection personnel in 2022.
“The morale has never been as low in the Border Patrol, but under the Biden-Harris administration and her current ads, acting like she’s pro-border security is just putting salt on an already gaping wound for the morale of border Border Patrol agents and law enforcement,” former Yuma Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem told the New York Post in August.
