‘Now do Sotomayor’: AOC dragged for trying to sic DOJ on Justice Clarence Thomas

Shameless Democrats have struck once more against a Supreme Court judge via a “Squad” led salvo complete with big-time backlash.

Justice Clarence Thomas has long stood as a threat to leftist narratives, namely for being a black conservative firmly rooted in constitutional originalism. With the current balance of the high court leaning by a bare margin to the right, efforts to reshape the judiciary before a Republican president could get elected in 2024 were re-upped by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The Democratic lawmaker was joined by a handful of colleagues Friday in encouraging Attorney General Merrick Garland to launch an ethics investigation against the judge related to an alleged failure to report the receipt of gifts.

“No one is above the law. For two decades, Justice Thomas failed to report millions in gifts. Today, we asked DOJ to investigate Thomas for violating the Ethics of Government Act of 1978. We are joined by Ranking Members Nadler (NY) & Raskin (MD), and Judiciary Members Lieu (CA) & Hank Johnson (GA).”

“No individual, regardless of their position or stature, should be exempt from legal scrutiny for lawbreaking,” the letter read in part. “The integrity of our judicial system hinges on the impartiality and transparency of its members. As a Supreme Court justice and high constitutional officer, Justice Thomas should be held to the highest standard, not the lowest–and he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to violate federal law.”

Current events were not overlooked as social media users flocked to the congresswoman’s post to call out the myriad problems with the targeted attack on Thomas, not the least of which was the already concerning allegations that the Justice Department has been weaponized against the American people.

“Biden’s DOJ is prosecuting Biden’s chief political rival while covering for Biden’s son. Now, AOC wants the same DOJ to prosecute a Supreme Court justice,” wrote one individual. “Franklin’s ‘A Republic, if you can keep it,’ seems an ominous warning these days.”

Of course, reports about the FBI targeting Catholics and the ongoing perceived political persecution of former President Donald Trump were only a fraction of the hypocrisy.

Not only were Thomas’ alleged ethics violations being targeted while ethics concerns surrounding Justice Sonia Sotomayor went by the wayside and Garland appeared to make moves to obstruct a congressional investigation of the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling, but the congresswoman’s actions have raised their own ethics concerns.

Sharing a quote from Thomas’ memoir “My Grandfather’s Son,” one user summed up the decades-old attacks that reach back to his Senate confirmation hearing led by then-Sen. Joe Biden that the judge had referred to at the time as a “high-tech lynching.”

“I had grown up fearing the lynch mobs of the Ku Klux Klan; as an adult, I was starting to wonder if I’d been afraid of the wrong white people all along,” Thomas wrote. “My worst fears had come to pass not in Georgia but in Washington, D.C., where I was being pursued not by bigots in white robes but. by left-wing zealots draped in flowing sanctimony.”
