House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries established a “red line” around New Jersey House Democrats who reportedly stormed a local ICE facility. Now, he’s going to have to make good on his threats.
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that it was still considering charges against the lawmakers who allegedly stomped their way into the Delaney Hall Detention Center under the guise of oversight. On Monday, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced charges against Democrat Representative LaMonica McIver, crossing the “red line” Jeffries had talked about while discussing the incident.

May 13: Hakeem Jeffries threatens retaliation should any of the Dem House members who stormed the NJ ICE facility be arrested.
“They’ll find out. It’s a red line. There are clear lines that they dare not cross.”

McIver is currently being charged with assaulting, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement. Looks like Jeffries will have to come up with some consequences now that he’s been called on his bluff.
