NYC cabbie, 60, gets brutal beatdown by 5 thugs in middle of busy Midtown Manhattan street

While officials in New York City try to insist that crime is trending in the right direction, social media is proving to be no friend to those claims.

A video is making the rounds online showing an NYC taxi driver being viciously beaten by a group of black men and women in the middle of a busy Midtown Manhattan street. The incident took place last week, according to the New York Post, which tagged the attackers as “brutes.”

The 60-year-old cabbie is seen being pummeled by the group, with one of the women removing her shoe and using that as a weapon to beat the victim in the head.

There were plenty of bystanders witnessing the assault, but no one came to the aid of the man in the footage being shared.

As for the mention of U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), this is in reference to a clip of an interview on Al Jazeera from February 2018 that is recirculating this week.

“I think people should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths,” said Omar, one of the first two Muslim women to be elected to Congress.

Police said an argument between the cabbie and the group preceded the brutal beatdown — the man was reportedly taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Two of the suspects, 35-year-old Howard Colley and 51-year-old Natalie Morgan, both of Brooklyn, were arrested at the scene, the Post reported, citing the NYPD.

Social media users advised that folks may not want to try that in a small town…. here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter, now known as X:
