NYC Mayor Adams flip-flops on Trump, slams ‘hateful’ MSG rally

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has flip-flopped on his defense of former President Donald J. Trump and is now parroting the talking points about an obscure comic’s joke at Sunday’s big rally at Madison Square Garden.

The embattled Democrat leader drew the ire of leftists when he refused to label the GOP nominee as a “fascist” with the argument for electing Kamala Harris having descended into childish name-calling, but he was back in line with his condemning of the “hateful” remarks at the rousingly patriotic event.

Harris’ campaign is in deep trouble and the increasingly strident rhetoric about Trump and his supporters is a sign of Democrat desperation, thus the ridiculously hysterical overreaction to Tony Hinchcliffe’s poorly received jab at Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” hours before the former president spoke.

“The hateful words that were used by some at today’s rally at Madison Square Garden were completely unacceptable. No matter who says it, hate is hate and there is no place for it in our city. As Americans, we always should stand up against racism, antisemitism, and misogyny,” Adams said in a post to X.

“Yesterday, ahead of today’s rally, I talked about how we all need to turn down the temperature that fuels hate and violence. I am once again renewing those calls,” the mayor added.

“I have had those terms hurled at me by some political leaders in the city — terms like Hitler and fascist — my answer is no,” Adams said last week when asked if he agreed with Harris’ vile use of the other “F” word to describe Trump as her surrogates likened the MSG rally to an infamous WW II-era gathering of Nazi supporters at the same venue.

“I know what Hitler has done, and I know what a fascist regime looks like. I think, as I have called over and over again, that the level of conversation, I think we can all dial down the temperature,” he said.

Hizzoner’s refusal to cry Hitler like Kamala earned the mayor a shout-out from Trump at the event.

“And you know who I want to thank?” Trump said during his speech at MSG, which was packed to the rafters. “Mayor Adams. Because Mayor Adams has been treated pretty badly. You know, when he said that this whole thing with the migrants coming into New York, this is just not sustainable. You know, we can’t do it. We’re trying to run a city, we got 100,000 migrants coming. We can’t do it, we just can’t do it, it’s not feasible, it’s not good.”

“He said it very nicely,” he added. “I said, ‘Well, he’s going to be indicted by these lunatics for saying that.’ A year later, he got indicted.”

But Adams returned the favor in typical Democrat fashion, by stabbing Trump in the back. Maybe he fears having his door kicked down by Harris-Biden Gestapo goons and felt compelled to get with the program but it’s a total weasel move by Hizzoner.
