Employing a bare minimum approach to Christian outreach earned Gotham’s Muslim mayor even more scorn over his “abstract allegory” Good Friday message.
Since taking office at the beginning of the year, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) has repeatedly been called out for his actions snubbing Christians. Ahead of the culmination of Holy Week, Hizzoner went a step further, deeming the memorial of the Passion of the Lord as a generic “day of sacrifice” with no mention of Jesus Christ.
Between a post about Passover pushing Marxist messaging about a city “Where all who are hungry can come and eat” and a promotion for a jingle contest with Cardi B, the mayor’s X account stated, “Today, on Good Friday, we mark a day of sacrifice. Some New Yorkers will abstain from eating; others will spend hours without speaking. Faith, the Bible tells us, is belief in the things unseen. That belief is what will guide os many of our neighbors in solemn reflection and reverence. I wish all those observing Good Friday a blessed day of peace.”
Among those slamming Mamdani, Christian commentator Allie Beth Stuckey, author of “Toxic Empathy: How Progressives Exploit Christian Compassion,” expressed, “I really don’t like hearing non-Christians talk about Easter as if it’s some abstract allegory. It’d be better not to talk about it at all. Good Friday isn’t about sacrifice. It’s about Jesus’s sacrifice. God-made-flesh shed [H]is blood on the cross for our sins, so that by grace through faith we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. Acts 4:12: ‘And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.'”

As previously reported, the mayor had claimed a scheduling conflict when he’d broken a century-long tradition by skipping out on attending the installation of Bishop Ronald Hicks as the new archbishop of the New York Archdiocese at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in February. This happened after Mamdani had failed to include a Catholic priest at his interfaith breakfast.
Having called out Mamdani’s statement as the “Goofiest way a politician has ever described the significance of Good Friday,” Greg Price also reacted to Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s own attempt to mark the day as she wrote, “To all Virginians observing Good Friday, I am wishing you and your loved ones a reflective and meaningful day.”
“It’s hilarious and revealing that so many Democrat politicians are releasing statements about Good Friday that refuse to say the words ‘Christians,’ ‘Christ,’ or ‘Jesus,'” he captioned the post.

Standing in stark contrast was the powerful and full-throated testimony of the Gospel as delivered by President Donald Trump from the Oval Office, where he stated, “This Holy Week, I’m proud to join with Christians across the country and around the world to celebrate the most glorious miracle in all of time, the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“In His life, Christ displayed true humility, in His death, He modeled true love, and in His resurrection from the tomb, He proved that even death itself will not silence those who place their trust in Almighty God,” added the president.

It came as no surprise that the Islamunist (Islamist communist) mayor would steer clear of mentioning Jesus Christ given his track record of cozying up to an unindicted co-conspirator of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, his expressions of support for the Holy Land Foundation’s convicted leadership tied to Hamas — prompting calls for his denaturalization — and his own wife’s reactions to the terrorist organization’s attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
Still, social media made sure Mamdani was checked over his Good Friday message, ensuring that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was not glossed over as some “universal virtue.”
Good Friday isn’t about the universal virtue of “sacrifice.” It’s about Christ’s particular sacrifice – his brutal crucifixion – a real, historic event with eternal consequences.

All those words to avoid mentioning Jesus Christ.
Good Friday is about remembering the suffering of Christ.

You forgot to mention Jesus Christ, Mr. Mayor.

Imagine posting about Good Friday, the day centered on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and never mentioning Him once. That’s not inclusive messaging, that’s erasing the entire point.

No, Mr. Mayor. We do not mark “A” day of some generic “sacrifice”. We mark the day that the one and only Son of God was scourged, beaten, mocked, and crucified. He went willingly to the Cross to suffer and die for my sin. That’s what we mark today.

What time are going to Rikers Island today?
I’m sure you will be visiting the Christian inmates, just like you visited the Muslim inmates for Ramadan. pic.twitter.com/o5Ws5QgzPD— Joey FAFO (@jkeeter82) April 3, 2026
No, this is a Hallmark card. Today we commemorate the brutal torturing and execution of Jesus of Nazareth, the Incarnate Word and the Second Person of the Trinity became man and willingly permitted himself to suffer the indignity of death on the Cross to liberate us from sin and… pic.twitter.com/JTwLIsi493
