Obama judge releases four illegal immigrant convicted murderers and rapists

An Obama judge last week ordered the release of four illegal alien convicted murderers and rapists from federal immigration custody, calling their convictions “irrelevant.”

Judge John W. deGravelles, an Obama appointee, defended his widely panned decision by first arguing that the four criminal aliens had been held too long “in violation of their constitutional rights,” according to The Washington Times.

“They have been detained with no opportunity to arrange for care for their dependents, pets, or homes; the court can only assume that bills have gone unpaid, jobs may have been lost, and petitioners may be released into housing and food instability, all because the government unlawfully detained them,” he wrote in his ruling.

He also maintained that it was unlikely that the illegal aliens’ home countries (reportedly Cuba and Ethiopia) would accept them upon deportation.

And finally, he asserted that the illegals’ violent criminal convictions were “irrelevant.”

“Each was convicted of a crime, and each served his sentence,” deGravelles wrote. “And then ICE itself determined that each should be released into regular, free civilian life.”

“Petitioners’ criminal histories are not at issue here, and the parties have not suggested that any part of this case would be different for similarly situated petitioners without the same criminal history. In short, respondents’ assertion that petitioners were criminals is irrelevant to the analysis here,” he concluded.

The Trump administration Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reacted to deGravelles’ decision with disgust.

“Judge John deGravelles, appointed by Barack Obama, released FOUR violent criminals back onto American communities, and unfortunately, the ramifications will only be the continued rape, murder, assault, and robbery of more American victims,” Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

“Releasing these monsters is inexcusably reckless. President Trump and Secretary Noem are now enforcing the law and arresting illegal aliens who have no right to be in our country. We are applying the law as written. If an immigration judge finds an illegal alien has no right to be in this country, we are going to remove them. Period,” she added.

The four illegals included Ibrahim Ali Mohammed, an Ethiopian convicted of sexual exploitation of minor; Luis Gaston-Sanchez, a Cuban convicted of homicide, assault, resisting arrest, and robbery; Ricardo Blanco Chomat, a Cuban convicted of homicide, kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm, and selling cocaine; and Francisco Rodriguez-Romero, a Cuban convicted of homicide and a weapons offense.

After the men’s release, they were greeted by Lydia Wright of Rights Behind Bars and Bridget Pranzatelli of the National Immigration Project.

“Pranzatelli said she and Wright drove the men to New Orleans, where they were able to shop for toiletries, take warm showers, and watch the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics,” according to Verite News.

They were then placed on flights to their so-called “homes” in the U.S.

“It was the best day of my life,” Pranzatelli told the outlet. “Everybody woke up this morning in their own beds with their families where they belong.”

Critics, meanwhile, say that the judge’s decision and Pranzatelli’s glee over the men’s release all once again point to the left’s malignant love for the criminal element.
