Officers open fire on U-Haul backing into Coast Guard personnel following protest

U.S. Coast Guard personnel were forced to open fire on a U-Haul truck after its driver attempted to back into the gate entrance of the California base.

The box truck was captured on video trying to force its way onto Coast Guard Base Alameda following a protest outside the entrance on Thursday, where demonstrators tried to block U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents from entering the base, Fox News reported.

The driver ignored commands to stop and gunfire erupted from those manning the entrance. Having second thoughts about the idea, the U-Haul driver quickly accelerated forward.

The Coast Guard said the person behind the wheel of the U-Haul truck was “driving erratically and attempting to back into the base.”

“When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of live fire,” the agency said in a statement.

Two men reportedly showed up at local hospitals for gunshot wounds after the shooting, with one of them believed to be the driver of the U-Haul, according to Mercury News.

With Democrats showing no signs of relenting with their reckless rhetoric they direct toward ICE agents, who they compare to Nazis and call the Gestapo, the anti-ICE sentiment in America continues to ramp up. It’s likely just a matter of time before one of those tasked with enforcing U.S. immigration laws will be seriously harmed or killed.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
