Former President Donald Trump’s federal indictment piqued the interest of O.J. Simpson Friday prompting some unsolicited legal advice to the delight of social media.
Famous for facing his own “Trial of the Century” for the killing of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, for which he was found not guilty criminally but civilly liable, the one-time football player boasts plenty of experience conversing with attorneys.
In fact, he rattled off quite a few names including Alan Dershowitz and Johnnie Cochran when he waded into the subject of the president’s latest legal battle over his possession of documents marked classified.
“Hey Twitter world,” Simpson began as he introduced the topic before stating, “I’m going to share some advice that I got from some of the greatest legal minds of our generation — of my lifetime.”

“The one thing they all told me and stressed to me: do not talk about the case publicly. Do not do interviews about the case. The Bakers threatened to quit if I did that,” he continued and added, “My point is I don’t know if Donald’s lawyers are stressing this to him.”
“If they’re not,” Simpson asserted, “they should be fired and he should sue ’em.”
Considering the release of his 2008 book “If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer” which presented a “hypothetical” account of how he would have gone about murdering Brown and Goldman, that advice certainly seemed wise in retrospect. Whether or not the same rule applies to Trump’s case is entirely up for debate, but respondents on Twitter couldn’t help but take some shots at Simpson for his suggestion.
“Stick um with the pointy end?” prodded one as another reminded the public about why “you must acquit” writing, “Best legal advice should be…always buy smaller size gloves when committing a double homicide.”
“I received a good one when I was younger,” someone else offered. “It was from my grandparents. They said ‘whatever you do dont kill anyone.'”

One remark in particular appeared to be too much for Simpson to tolerate as The Spectator’s contributing editor Stephen L. Miller shared a screenshot of his being blocked after he suggested, “Telling Trump not to talk is like telling OJ not to murder his wife.”
Following the block, Miller fired off a couple of quips, one of which leaned into the former athlete’s legal record and said “Could have been worse,” after joking “Feel like sh*t. Just want him back.”
Could have been worse.

Whether or not Trump was aware of the advice from Simpson, the president clearly wasn’t heeding it as a number of posts to Truth Social were followed up by comments during his first public speeches since the indictment where he blasted President Joe Biden for “Stalinist” tactics in allegedly attempting to jail his political opponent.
“Biden is trying to jail his leading political opponent…just like they do in Stalinist Russia or in communist China,” Trump said.
As for Simpson, there were plenty of people willing to chime in over his suggestion.
If only you had taken some legal advice just prior to murdering your ex-wife and a man whose only crime was returning her sunglasses.

The fact that you are not in prison and are giving legal advice to a former president on a Twitter page after killing two people still astonishes me.
