An attempt to pander to Puerto Ricans handed the vice president a “Let’s Go Brandon!” moment of her very own.
Shifting gears from abortion advocacy, Vice President Kamala Harris made her first trip in her current office to the American territory to attend a Democratic fundraiser as she touted post-hurricane aid for the island.
Her effort to pull her weight in enticing a waning Latino vote found her clearly lost in translation as she smiled and clapped along with a protest song until an aide appeared to tell her what was actually going on.
Social media commentator Bad Hombre summed up the encounter, “OMG! Kamala went to Puerto Rico yesterday to pander, as Biden grapples with record-low Latino support, and she gets epically trolled. Kamala dances along to a pro-PR independence song protesting her visit, until her translator explains what’s happening.”

Reporter Istra Pacheco posted the lyrics to the protest song that translated as:
We want to know,
We want to know,
We want to know Kamala,
What did you come to do?
We want to know Kamala,
What is going to happen,
If you are going to talk about Law 60,
And the Fiscal Control Board.
The vice president arrived,
Making history,
We want to know,
What do you think of the colony?
We will continue playing,
The full of my country,
Long live free Palestine,
And also Haiti!
Llegó la vicepresidenta
Haciendo historia
Queremos saber
Qué piensa de la coloniaSeguiremos tocando
La plena de mi paÃs
¡Viva Palestina libre,
Y también HaitÃ!

The scene was reminiscent of the end of President Joe Biden’s first year in office when a father had pranked him into saying “Let’s Go Brandon!” as he took calls during NORAD’s Santa Tracker event. The president had echoed the sentiment that had become synonymous with the expression “F*ck Joe Biden” after a NASCAR event.
Harris’ clap-along wasn’t the only sign that Democrats were faced with serious unrest in their ranks as the vice president’s arrival was met with protesters waving colorless Puerto Rican flags, Palestinian flags and Haitian flags while setting American flags on fire.
“We find her presence disrespectful,” protest spokeswoman Joselyn Velázquez said according to the Associated Press. Another protester reportedly said, “She is not welcome here.”
“Kamala Harris war criminal,” read a sign.
While the protesters voiced their sympathy for Hamas and their opposition to incentives for Americans to relocate to the island for tax breaks, it remained that they do not have a say in the election of the president, but the incumbents are eyeing their stateside counterparts as a key voting bloc come November.
As with her trademark word salads, users reacting to the insulated vice president’s belief that she would only encounter sycophants, and her foolhardy decision to dance along to a song she did not comprehend, couldn’t help but remind that Harris remained one heartbeat away from being commander-in-chief.
the next US President!

Of course, in her own mind the initial thought is always that everyone else likes and admires her, for why should they think any different when it comes to herself?
