One of Rob Reiner’s final political acts will not leave the world a better place

One of Rob Reiner’s final political acts was to give money to Rep. Eric Swalwell’s gubernatorial campaign.

Just six days before Reiner and his wife were killed in their own home, allegedly at the hands of their son Nick Reiner, the famous director dropped a massive $1o,000 contribution to the campaign.

“Campaign records show that Reiner also made the contribution about two and a half weeks after the congressman announced his candidacy on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!'” The New York Post reported. “Swalwell, 45, last year missed more votes than any current member of the House of Representatives as he sought out the support of elite donors.”

Reiner joined other high-level names such as Sean Penn and Robert De Niro, all of whom have thrown their support behind Swalwell.

This should come as no surprise, as Reiner was an outspoken Democrat during his lifetime and often spoke out about his beliefs. More specifically, he positioned himself as a staunch opponent of  President Donald Trump, who noted the pair’s political rivalry in a Truth Social post shortly after Reiner’s sudden and tragic death was reported.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with the mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” the president’s post reads. “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Swalwell also reacted to Reiner’s death:

“Politicians always boast about how much they love this country. Few people I know loved this country more, rooted for it harder than my friends Rob and Michele Reiner. Anyone who knew them will agree there are no two people who are going to be missed more.”

Reiner refused to apologize for leftist beliefs in a 2019 interview with Margaret Hoover.

“Listen, I can’t tell you how many times I get ‘libtard’ on my Twitter feed. I mean, I’m the ‘libtard’ of the world,” he said.

“I get all that, and I understand that I’m toxic in those ways for those people. But if anybody wants to spend any time actually talking about how policy can be affected, how it can be put together, I can sit and talk with them.”
