Organizer of Trump’s 250 Birthday bash is fired, fights accusations

A man chosen by President Donald Trump to organize America’s upcoming 250th birthday party has been fired.

Ariel Abergel, a 25-year-old former “Fox & Friends” producer who was hired as the executive director of America250 earlier this year, has since been fired, according to The Daily Beast.

An America250 spokesperson said that the official reason is that he “initiated a security breach of a commission social-media account, attempted to procure the resignations of multiple commissioners by misrepresenting himself as acting on behalf of congressional leadership, and engaged in multiple other serious and repeated breaches of authority and trust.”

He also allegedly “defied directives from the commission’s executive committee” and allegedly engaged in “unauthorized actions related to commission-approved programming, finances, and communications, jeopardizing the commission’s operations and reputation.”

Abergel has cried foul and alleged that America250’s statement  is full of “malicious lies… meant to distract from the truth.”

According to him, the real reason he was fired was because he posted a tribute to slain Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk to America250’s  official Instagram account without permission:

“America is in mourning. God bless Charlie Kirk,” the post read.

Abergel has alleged that he originally asked America250 for permission to publish the post, but took matters into his own hands when denied.

“Abergel [said] he was initially suspended over the rogue social media post, before being asked to resign and ultimately getting fired,” The Daily Beast notes.

His termination came after he oversaw the Army’s 250th birthday anniversary celebration.

The White House, for its part, is focusing on the positives of Abergel’s tenure with America250.

The Trump administration “is incredibly proud of all of Ari Abergel’s work at America250 — most notably during the Army250 parade, which boldly honored the bravery and strength of our military men and women,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said.

But problems with Abergel reportedly began as early as June.

“Abergel’s new role has prompted concerns even from some Trump loyalists, as well as a backlash among participants who worry that his installation portends a bid by Trump to channel the patriotism surrounding the nation’s semiquincentennial into a celebration of himself,” The Atlantic claimed at the time.

Keep in mind, The Atlantic is a far-left paper whose writers’ favorite thing to do is bash President Trump and his allies.

Speaking of which, The Atlantic also complained about Abergel recruiting a bunch of Trump loyalists and former Fox News figures to help with America250’s efforts.

“Abergel, who interned for Trump during his first term and worked briefly in first lady Melania Trump’s office, has … brought over others from Fox News to help the organization, and added top campaign advisers to Trump,” the outlet noted.

“The former Fox News contributor Monica Crowley, who now serves as chief of protocol for the United States, has been appointed the ‘principal media representative’ of America250. Several vendors who had been working on preparations for next year, meanwhile, have been fired,” the report continued.

Democrats also complained about Abergel’s work.

“It is unfortunate that what was meant to unite the country and honor its history has been twisted into yet another scheme for [Trump’s] own personal gain,” New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman complained to The Daily Beast after the Army’s parade.

A Trump administration official who spoke with The Atlantic, meanwhile, defended Abergel’s work.

“He is taking something and fixing it,” the official said. “He is bringing in the best of the best.”

“Ari and the team have brought a fresh perspective to our programming that helps us connect with Americans across the country,” America250 chairperson Rosie Rios added. “As we approach America250, it’s critical that our efforts remain bipartisan and reach our goal of engaging 350 million Americans.”
