Oscar-winner’s ex rips up her award from the Queen because of Trump visit – and she thinks someone cares!

Livia Giuggioli Firth, an Italian activist for sustainability in the fashion industry and the ex-wife of actor Colin Firth, hates U.S. President Donald Trump.

She hates him so much that she’s given up an extraordinary award given to her by the British government because the government had the apparent audacity to treat Trump like a human being during his recent visit to the island nation.

The award, known as the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), is used to recognize distinguished service in the arts, sciences, etc.

Six years ago, Firth was awarded an honorary MBE on behalf of then-Queen Elizabeth for her work in sustainable fashion, according to The Guardian.

Yet in an Instagram video published Wednesday, Giuggioli tore up the MBE award and said she’d be returning it.

“I cannot reconcile being part of the British empire, particularly in light of what happened last week,” she said in the clip, referencing Trump’s visit to the U.K. the week prior.

She went on to accuse the British government of appeasing “someone who stands for the obliteration of the natural world and the most vulnerable people on Earth.”

Included with her Instagram post was a lengthy caption.

“As I write this, we see that horrible excuse of a human (called Trump) in full flow at the UN general assembly, his poisonous rethoric [SIC] amplified and legitimised,” she wrote.

“I have been reflecting on his visit to the UK last week and I am afraid I can’t reconcile the way he was appeased and honoured and, again, legitimised,” she added.

Trump is the president of the most powerful country on Earth, so it seems fairly clear why he was “honored” and “legitimized.”

“In fact, last week’s display showed me nothing of those values I thought King Charles upheld – or its spirit,” Firth continued. “Rather, a frightening and cowardly display of appeasing someone who stands for the obliteration of the natural world and the most vulnerable people on earth.”

“Because I can’t reconcile those two positions, I have shredded my honour and I am returning it to sender. I know so many honourable, decent British people who will be unable to reconcile their deeply held values of fairness and justice with the grotesque pantomime we witnessed. I think it’s only by taking a stand that we can make our feelings known,” she concluded.

The fact that she’d give up such an extraordinary award for such a petty reason has people talking:

Firth famously had an affair with Italian journalist Marco Brancaccia between 2015 and 2016, allegedly while she and her then-husband were separated. The two later announced their separation in late 2019 and finalized their divorce in 2021.
