Ozzy Osbourne having ‘major’ surgery, wife Sharon says it will ‘determine the rest of his life’

Ozzy Osbourne, the former front man for the rock group Black Sabbath, is expected to undergo a “major operation on Monday” that could determine how the 73-year-old rocker spends the rest of his days.

That’s according to his wife, Sharon Osbourne, who commented on her husband’s scheduled medical procedure during a recent appearance on her UK chat show Talk TV.

“He has a major operation on Monday, and I have to be there,” she said during a panel discussion. “It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.”

Sharon Osbourne also noted that they have a grandchild due in a few weeks and that she and Ozzy, who has been sober for eight years after years of alcohol and drug abuse, are about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on the first of July.

While she didn’t specify what type of surgery Ozzy will be having, Fox News noted that he has had neck problems for nearly two decades following a quad biking accident.

“I’m just waiting on some more surgery on my neck,” he told Classic Rock magazine last month. “I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.”

He also had a rather optimistic outlook on the future while acknowledging that we all have to go at some point.

“At f—ing 73, I’ve done pretty well,” Ozzy said. “I don’t plan on going anywhere, but my time’s going to come.”

Fans took to Twitter to wish Ozzy well and to encourage others to keep him in their prayers:
