A Muslim leftist is under heavy fire from her left flank for referring to good ol’ Hakeem Jeffries as a “monkey.”
Rula Jebreal, a Palestinian “journalist” and university professor, was speaking on leftist Muslim podcaster Wajahat Ali’s show on Tuesday when the topic of House Minority Leader Jeffries’ support for Israel came up.
Jebreal proceeded to accuse Jeffries of essentially being a puppet for Israel’s most powerful lobby in the States, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC.
“His name is Hakeem,” she began. “‘Hakeem’ is an Arabic name which means ‘healer.’ He’s not a healer, he’s a divider. He is a bought-and-paid-for AIPAC monkey. With all due respect — and I don’t mean it in a racist way — he is just basically an errand boy, and we’re done and tired.”
Listen:
RACISM ALERT: @WajahatAli sits and nods along as Rula Jebreal calls Hakeem Jeffries a “monkey” and an “errand boy.” This type of racism and bigotry has NO place in our Party. Retweet if you agree. pic.twitter.com/D3lvrWG4R7

In a sane, rational world, nobody would care about this because calling anybody a “monkey” for this or that cause is just basic trash-talking. However, we don’t live in a sane, rational world; we live a woke, insane one.
And so after Jebreal’s comments went viral, massive outrage erupted against her and Ali — both of whom are die-hard leftists who’ve spent years kissing the butts of the left’s favored victim groups, including blacks who led the charge against Jebreal and Ali.
“To be clear, there isn’t a non-racist way to call Leader Jeffries—a Black man—a ‘monkey’ or ‘errand boy,'” the blatantly racist Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) stated in an angry tweet.
“@WajahatAli , this is what happens when we hold ourselves to such low standards for what’s allowable in our discourse—people get comfortable being openly bigoted,” the CBC added. “We have to stop platforming and trafficking in anti-Black racism, whether it’s on the political right or the left.”

Rep. Ritchie Torres also took a shot at the two.
“Calling a Black man a ‘monkey’ is racist. Full stop,” he tweeted. “If Wajahat Ali and Rula Jebreal were on the far right, no one on the far left would have any trouble condemning them for dehumanizing a Black man in racist terms. The silence is deafening.”
Social media is littered with similar takes from thousands upon thousands of other leftists, most of them black.
Jebreal eventually issued a kind of slick apology in which she doubled down on her criticisms of Jeffries but apologized for her choice of words.
Look:
I am disgusted and horrified that Hakeem Jeffries is taking money from AIPAC amidst Israel’s genocide in Palestine.
That said, a term that I used to describe him was inappropriate and offensive and should never have been used.
I apologize unconditionally.— Rula Jebreal (@rulajebreal) September 4, 2026
Ali meanwhile has taken a different route by trying to shame his critics. The problem, of course, is that it’s impossible to shame the shameless.
Ever since the scandal erupted, Ali has nevertheless been relentlessly attacking his and Jebreal’s critics by accusing them of being the true bigots and monsters.
It’s an interesting strategy …
“PLEASE stop supporting Israel’s genocide and stop doing events with Destiny, who is accused of revenge porn and said, ‘children are hotter than adults,'” he wrote to prominent anti-gun zealot Shannon Watts. “Surely, you don’t agree with him, right?”
“Curious why you have time to condemn us, but barely a fraction of the energy to condemn Islamophobe and racist Laura Loomer, Randy Fine, and all the pro-Israel genocide supporters who are unrepentant in their hate and double down instead?” Ali wrote to Democrat House Whip Katherine Clark.
He even took a shot at a former Biden administration official:
Aren’t you the dude who is supporting MAGA Mike Rogers against El-Sayed and works for a firm that supports Trump?
Oh yeah, you are.
You’re a bad faith actor, and these divide-and-conquer tactics won’t work. https://t.co/srtfyJjYzd

Say what you will about Ali, but at least he’s got the balls to stand up for himself.
