Pamela Anderson, 56, shares ‘journey’ that prompted her to stop wearing makeup

As part of a “natural beauty revolution,” actress and model Pamela Anderson addressed her heartfelt motivation to stop wearing makeup and how she’s felt on that “journey.”

“I’m not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room.”

A fixture of 90s pop culture, rising to fame on “Baywatch” and “Home Improvement,” the 56-year-old Canadian recently captured attention as she attended Paris Fashion Week styling a different kind of naked. However, the stripped-down, makeup-free look wasn’t for clicks as she had explained during an August interview with Elle.

Speaking about her book tour for the memoir “Love, Pamela,” and her time spent in the public eye with little to no makeup, Anderson detailed how that decision was based on the tragic death of her makeup artist Alexis Vogel who lost a battle with breast cancer in 2019.

“She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,” said the celebrity.

She went on to describe the experience as “freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too. Because I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing.”

“I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey,” Anderson went on. “I feel rooted for. I feel good. I’m in a good place.”

While attending Fashion Week, the mother of two spoke with Vogue France as she prepared for the Vivienne Westwood show and remarked, “I’m not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room.”

During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” she compared her current look to that from her rise to fame and said, “The 90s was the 90s, and now it’s 2023. I like to do things that are different, I feel like…this is a new chapter of my life.”

Admitting that she may still wear subdued amounts of makeup, Anderson joked, “Natural beauty still takes two hours in front of a mirror. It’s funny because, you know, I’m always in the garden now.”

“I always have dirt under my nails,” she described. “So it’s nice to wear diamonds just to glam it up a little bit.”

On her Instagram page, Anderson highlighted her varying looks from Fashion Week with a message on body positivity in her caption that read, “An adventure in Paris with fresh eyes…There is beauty in self acceptance, imperfection and love.”

That struck a chord with 64-year-old actress Jamie Lee Curtis who shared images of Anderson through her own social media account and declared, “THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN! [Pamela Anderson] in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face.”

“I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion,” she added.

Anderson noted on X, “I’m in the phase of ‘accept me as I am’. The world feels new once again…”
