Pantone’s color of the year is apparently racist

Apparently, Pantone’s “Color of the Year” is causing a stir, and it’s for the dumbest reason you can imagine.

The 2026 “Color of the Year” is “Cloud Dancer,” and as the name suggests, it’s a shade of white. The company describes it as a “neutral white that brings calm, clarity, and creative breath to a noisy world.”

While this would normally not be a huge deal, apparently, it’s quite triggering for some who have an issue with whiteness. Namely, “woke” white women who have too much time on their hands and not enough real-world problems.

According to The New York Post, one woman took to TikTok to complain about “whiteness being weaponized.”

“Let’s be honest, whiteness is being weaponized everywhere right now. It’s in our politics, our media, our police forces, our borders. Instead of reading the room, Pantone basically branded it a lifestyle,” she said. “It’s not just out of touch, it’s symbolic. It’s a reminder of who still controls the narrative. They are openly mocking us, choosing purity white as the cultural color of the year while the rest of us are screaming for humanity.”

“Pantone choosing white or cloudy days as color of the year is a political statement. Call me too woke, I don’t care. I don’t think I’m wrong,” whined another lady, according to the outlet. “It’s giving Sydney Sweeney has good genes. You’re going to choose white and market it as a soothing reset? For who, babe? Who is that soothing?”

“Did you forget to read the room?” a third user asked, while yet another accused the company of “white wash.”

“Pantonedeaf,” a user quipped.

“Pantone can’t afford color this year and neither can anyone else,” said one amused commenter.

X users had a lot to say about the color choice as well:
