Parkland dad’s nonprofit group donating backpacks containing AR pistols for use in county schools

Anti-gun activists’ heads will more than likely explode as Parkland father Andrew Pollack’s nonprofit teamed up with an organization to donate AR pistols and body armor to Florida sheriffs.

The 501c3 “Meadows Movement” is set to donate eight backpacks containing AR pistols on January 4, 2023, to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office in Florida to be used in Bradford County schools.

Pollack has found a purpose in life after he lost his 18-year-old daughter, Meadow, in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on February 14, 2018, that claimed 17 lives. He formed “Meadows Movement” after that horrific attack to “[ensure] that other parents never have to go through what I (and so many other parents) have had to endure,” and is a prominent advocate for school safety.

Each backpack going to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office will be paired with an Adams Arms AR pistol. They will be used by sheriff’s personnel serving as school resource officers (SROs). This means that the SROs will not have to run to a locker or a patrol car to retrieve a gun to stop an intruder from taking innocent lives.

The backpacks also come complete with backpack body armor aimed at helping save officers’ lives when they confront attackers.

Byrna, a company focused on self-defense tools, donated the backpacks to the “Meadows Movement.”

“As easy to insert into a standard-sized student backpack as a school notebook, Byrna Shield Backpack Body Armor is a thin, lightweight (14 oz.), flexible Level IIIA-rated ballistic plate. It can withstand up to 6 hits from .44 magnum bullets with velocities up to 1,464 feet-per-second, essentially making it capable of stopping every handgun on the market today,” the Byrna website states.

“I was fortunate enough to link up with Byrna, which is such a great company. They have the same vision as I do. They want to save lives and give law enforcement the tools to even the playing field against evil,” Pollack told Breitbart news in an interview.

Pollack believes so strongly in Byrna that he’s now their chief public safety officer.

Breitbart also interviewed Will Hartley, the superintendent of Bradford County Schools. He noted that his district has six facilities that already have certain teachers and staff who are armed for classroom defense.

Hartley contends that having the SROs armed with AR pistols is a much-needed additional layer of protection to protect students and staff from attackers.

“I wish more people could have it. Because, if someone comes on your campus and they have a long gun, we need to be able to meet their force with the same kind of force. The backpacks with AR pistols fit perfectly with our belief that if someone comes on your campus we should have every right to stop that threat with whatever means necessary,” he commented.

Both Hartley and Pollack believe that other school districts should be similarly prepared and armed. Hartley emphasized that the “Meadows Movement” has more funding available to help other police departments and/or school districts get life-saving tools into the hands of SROs.

In May, Pollack slammed Texas officials over the Uvalde massacre while making an appearance on Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s show.

“I’m so angry that I’m practically shaking right now at what happened — what these parents have to deal with. And just thinking that my daughter was murdered and we put a commission in Florida together to look into all the failures,” Pollack stated.

“And this district in Texas didn’t learn anything about what happened with my daughter. How hard could it be that a single point of entry and armed policemen or highly trained teachers at the school, even at a single point of entry, would prevent it? And it just angers me. This thing didn’t have to happen today,” he angrily charged.
