Passengers intervene when lunatic has ‘complete meltdown’ waiting for flight

A black man who claimed to be from the UK had a “complete meltdown” on Wednesday at the Kansas City airport, threatening to slap female Southwest workers.

The term “black fatigue” was coined online in large part due to instances like this, and while the man threatened violence and tried more than once to engage in fisticuffs, security was nowhere to be found. But there was a positive to the story in that other flyers, including other black men, rose to engage with the man and thwart his rampage.

The irate traveler complained about being at the gate since 5:30, with the video reportedly taken around 11:30 a.m. At one point, he screamed, “I’m from the UK, n—a!”

When an employee threatened to call the police, the man fired back, “I don’t give a f–k about getting arrested, bitch! … I’ll still smack your b*tch ass!”

When he advanced toward a female Southwest employee, several other travelers stepped forward to prevent any violence.

At one point, a man in a ball cap came close to physically intervening. In the end, the alleged Brit was all talk and no action, though he did insult the man multiple times by questioning his manhood.

The confrontation unfolded during a broader security investigation that briefly disrupted operations at the airport, according to the New York Post.

“In an update issued later Wednesday, the Kansas City Aviation Department said the airport had reopened and was operating normally after police and the FBI cleared the scene,” the newspaper reported. “A spokesperson for the FBI’s Kansas City office said agents and airport police ‘worked quickly to evaluate the situation and ensure the safety of everyone, including evacuating travelers from the affected area of the terminal.'”

It’s not clear if the man in the video above was arrested, although social media posts show him being detained by police. There were also no reported arrests in connection with the disruption.

Here’s a quick sampling of other responses to the story, as seen on X:
