Patricia Heaton joins petition effort to ban Mamdani from 9/11 ceremony

Actress Patricia Heaton has become an outspoken conservative voice and is backing a petition seeking to ban NYC Mayor Mamdani from this year’s 9/11 anniversary gathering.

The petition, created by the families of 9/11 victims, provides a troubling list of concerns regarding the socialist mayor’s “public positions, associations, and responses to rhetoric that many perceive as hostile” to the values of “respect for the victims, recognition of the gravity of the attacks, and a clear rejection of the ideologies that contributed to such violence.”

The families are asking the organizers of the 9/11 ceremony to “carefully consider whether Mr. Mamdani’s participation would align with the intention of the ceremony and the expectations of the families most directly affected by the tragedy.”

Thus far, the petition has gained nearly 50,000 signatures and is likely to gain many more after the “Everybody Loves Raymond” star gave it her stamp of approval.

“Keep it going New Yorkers,” Heaton stated on X and reposted the petition:

Many signatories posted statements regarding their positions about Mamdani’s potential presence at the ceremony:

“As a first responder myself, my heart goes out to all of the families who lost loved ones that day, as well as those thousands of individuals who have lost the battle since. This is an incredibly sacred day and should not be marred by the pretend countenance of a man who is anything but understanding of what took place that day. Stay home, please. And ensure your wife does the same. That in itself would be a service to this city,” one said.

“As a 9/11 employee of KBW, which occupied floors 88 and 89 of 2 WTC and lost 67 honored souls, I stand with those that prioritize the memory of those lost,” read another.

Many of the statements were deeply personal:

Heaton, who was reportedly in NYC during the attack, also garnered plenty of support for taking a stand. Last year, on September 11, Heaton published an unapologetic video in support of Israel:
