A Fox News review of the “woke” Smithsonian Institution’s employees and staffers led to the discovery of a hive of Democratic Party operatives.
The investigation found “roughly two dozen individuals employed by the Smithsonian in leadership positions or as curators who worked for Democratic offices or progressive nonprofits before being hired,” according to Fox News.
The hirings start at the top and go all the way to the bottom.
FIRE THEM ALL:
Former Democratic staffers, DEI leaders shape Smithsonian leadership amid political firestorm
Review of public biographies reveals former liberal staffers and DEI advocates now serve as curators and leaders @smithsonian pic.twitter.com/rApzLRGppr— The Way Forward**Breaking News Daily (@Emperorhanger) July 29, 2026
Roshni Lal, the director of the Smithsonian’s office of academic appointments and internships, has spent her whole career promoting so-called diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI).
DEI is a subversive ideology that calls for rectifying the sins of past discrimination against primarily blacks by applying modern discrimination against primarily whites and Asians.
“Lal previously was the director of diversity, equity and inclusion for the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges & Employers, where she oversaw policies, training and programming she characterized as anti-racist and rooted in social justice,” according to Fox News.
Prior to that gig, she “held DEI-related roles at the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Colleges and Employers.”
Lal’s predecessor, Eric Woodard, previously worked for the Clinton White House and the Obama State Department.
Joy G. Kinard, the chairwoman of the National Museum of American History political history division, also oversees the Smithsonian’s very “woke” Center for Restorative History.
According to the center’s website, it exists to “spotlight the people and stories that have been excluded from our national narrative using the principles of restorative justice” by bringing together “diverse voices.”
So-called restorative justice refers to the practice of trying to “help” a criminal offender instead of trying to rightly punish them.

“Among the center’s flagship programs are an effort to preserve the history of the Black Lives Matter movement by centering the perspectives of activists and a ‘decolonization working group,'” according to Fox News.
Laura Johnson, the Curator of Costumes and Textiles at the National Museum of American History, is focused on “stitching social justice throughout the Americas,” according to a Smithsonian biography.
Nancy Bercaw, a curator of Political History, previously “authored and edited several volumes on race, gender, and emancipation” as a University of Mississippi professor, according to the Smithsonian’s website.
Other leftist curators include one who “previously worked for the liberal Urban Institute,” one who “was a senior staffer for the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein”; one who “served as the deputy assistant secretary of education during the Obama administration”; and one who “came from the NAACP.”
The NAACP is short for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which many see as a blatantly racist organization that explicitly pushes black interests over the interests of everybody else.
This deep dive into the “woke” Smithsonian comes at a time when the institution is under heavy fire for its leftist ways.
Hillsdale College professor Matthew Spalding testified to Congress earlier this month about “efforts by the National Museum of American History (NMAH) to replace the story of America’s past with an activist ideology aimed at transforming its future.”
“[T]he National Museum of American History is no longer the nation’s museum of American history,” Spalding maintained. “The real crime here, premeditated and followed through, is that America’s story — the well-established narrative of main characters and key events long at the center of American self-understanding — has been so reframed, jettisoned, decentered, deconstructed, and ‘problematized’ that it no longer exists in recognizable form.”
His assessment paralleled the findings in a 162-page report published by the White House. The report noted that the NMAH’s leadership “has explicitly adopted an ideological framework that no longer treats the American story as a shared national inheritance to be taught or celebrated, but as a political instrument to divide, dispirit, and discourage our citizens.”
