Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany were on hand Saturday for the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby and he was confronted in a good-natured manner by a man who said he lost millions betting against the all-world player.
Mahomes, who led his Chiefs to a second world championship in February and collected his 2nd Super Bowl MVP award, responded with some sage advice for Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale.
“You cost me millions betting against you,” McIngvale is seen telling Mahomes in a Bleacher Report video.
After letting out a laugh, the player replied, “Sorry about that — you gotta be with me next time!”

But don’t cry for Mack just yet. Turns out, he has a history of making massive bets on sporting events and has won his share and then some.
Mack, a 72-year-old furniture-store magnate, bet a whopping $4.5 million on the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl 2022, only to see the team fall to the Los Angeles Rams by 3 points, according to the New York Post.
In 2020, Mack placed a $1 million wager on the San Francisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl against the Chiefs. Mahomes led a come-from-behind 31-20 victory for his team.
On the flip side, chief among his winnings was the 2022 World Series, where Mack’s payout is believed to be the largest in sports betting history, the Post reported.
How much did he win? After placing $10 million in bets across multiple sportsbooks, Mack walked away with a cool $75 million when the Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 2.
By the way, if you’re looking to take Mahomes’ advice, the Chiefs have the best odds to win Super Bowl 2024 at +600.
