Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has refused to endorse anyone for president despite his wife’s support for former President Donald Trump.
“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” he told reporters at his regularly scheduled media availability on Wednesday.
“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family,” he added.

Patrick Mahomes says he doesn’t believe in endorsing presidential candidates, gets along with everyone regardless of their political opinions. Good for him, honestly, this is Michael Jordan era politics: pic.twitter.com/cUpNP9OIXZ

His apolitical stance prompted massive praise from conservatives.

His answer is pretty fantastic no matter which side you’re on

Patrick Mahomes is the Steph Curry of football. If you dislike him, you are the problem …

@PatrickMahomes is a real pro! What a role model—and a great way to answer these questions.

Y’all taking notes – how hard was that?
And just like that, Chiefs fans still love him and Broncos fans still hate him – but for all the right reasons.

However, his stance also prompted massive anger and rage from some intolerant, bigoted leftists who demand that everybody on Earth share their opinions.
Look:
I love Patrick but MAGA has infected his otherwise spotless brand.

Once again, if this were only about policy, sure, but this is about a truly deranged, revenge-filled, vindictive racist taking control of this country with his power-hi get, white supremicist allies.

So he answered the question like Trump does… by not actually answering it at all. His word salad made more sense that anything trumps ever said I guess but he had a chance to distance himself from the wrong side of history and chose coach speak.

Mahomes better figure out the right side to be on in this one soon. There is no both sides to a guy who wanted boys who look like Patrick’s dad to be executed for a crime they didn’t commit. There is no both sides to a guy who’d refuse to rent to Patrick’s dad.

His apolitical stance comes about two weeks after his wife, Brittany Mahomes, came under heavy fire from the left for committing the crime of liking an Instagram post by former President Trump.
In response to the criticism she faced, Brittany basically told her leftist haters to go pound sand.
“To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.
Her willingness to stand up for Trump earned her praise from the former president several times, including on Wednesday when he praised her again during a Fox News appearance.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better [than Taylor Swift] if you want to know the truth,” he said. “She’s a big Trump fan. I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great.”
Brittany and her husband are good friends with singer Taylor Swift and her husband, Mahomes’ longtime teammate and close friend Travis Kelce. However, unlike Brittany, Swift is a supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Asked on Wednesday about Trump’s latest praise for his wife, Mahomes gave a shout-out to his wife for allowing people to think freely.
“I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community,” he said. “I do a lot in the community to help bring people up and give people an opportunity to use their voice.”
“In political times, people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life and trying to live it to the best of my ability. At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people,” he added.
During a recent appearance on the “Whoop” podcast, Brittany said her husband helped her deal with the backlash she’d faced for liking a Trump post.
NEW: Brittany Mahomes says she doesn’t “give a f***” what people think about her just days after she received backlash for supporting Trump.
Brittany joined the Whoop podcast and talked about how her husband Patrick Mahomes helped her deal with the haters.

“Having him to help me get through it has helped a lot because he is very good at managing those things and blocking people out and doing all that type of stuff,” she said. “Having him beside me and kind of guiding me, coaching me through it has helped a ton. I think that’s kind of gotten to where we are at now.
“I think the main thing he always told me is like, ‘Stop caring about what people think, especially the people that don’t even know you.’ And so I think social media used to get me a lot, and now it’s just like, honestly, I don’t give a f— about what people have to say about me anymore,” she added.
