‘Peekaboo’ James threatens to seize Trump’s assets if he doesn’t pay massive NYC fine

New York Attorney General Letitia James has threatened to seize former President Donald Trump’s properties if he doesn’t pay the fine levied against him last week by Judge Arthur F. Engoron.

“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” she told ABC News on Tuesday.

“We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day,” she added, referencing Trump’s 40 Wall Street skyscraper.

Her threat comes days after Engoron imposed a nearly $355 million fine on Trump and the Trump Organization for allegedly manipulating the value of their assets.

Trump responded to the ruling by claiming innocence, arguing that there were no victims to his alleged crime, and also vowing to appeal his case to a higher court.

But in her statement to ABC News, James sought to refute Trump’s proclamation of innocence by asserting that there were in fact victims of his alleged fraud.

“Financial frauds are not victimless crimes,” she said. “He engaged in this massive amount of fraud. It wasn’t just a simple mistake, a slight oversight, the variations are wildly exaggerated, and the extent of the fraud was staggering.”

“If average New Yorkers went into a bank and submitted false documents, the government would throw the book at them, and the same should be true for former presidents,” she added.

Critics have alleged the opposite though, arguing that the average New York business owner would and should never be subjected to such arbitrary and capricious prosecution.

“We’re very worried, every investor [in the state] is worried because where is the victim? Who lost the money? This is some arbitrary decision a judge made,” popular businessman Kevin O’Leary said Monday.

“I’m sorry her [James’] words fall on deaf ears to everybody. There’s nothing she can say to justify this decision. And this has nothing to do with Trump, nothing to do with Trump. Forget about Trump. This is not a Trump situation. This is a New York problem,” he added.

Some would argue that this is, in reality, a leftist problem, because wherever leftism thrives, so does the abuse and manipulation of the law to target and persecute political dissidents like Trump.

And indeed, the targeting and persecution of political dissidents is exactly what many on the right feel is happening here. Note for example how many conservatives responded to James’ latest words.

Trump also believes he’s been politically persecuted.

“THIS ALL FIT THE FAKE NARRATIVE OF THE CORRUPT AND MANY TIMES OVERTURNED ‘JUDGE,’ AND THE RADICAL LEFT, SOROS BACKED, SLOB OF AN ATTORNEY GENERAL, WHOSE PRIMARY GOAL IS, IN CLOSE COORDINATION WITH THE WHITE HOUSE, AND LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER LITIGATION AGAINST ME, AN ATTACK ON CROOKED JOE BIDEN’S POLITICAL OPPONENT, ME!” he wrote on Truth Social this past Monday.
