Petty McConnell couldn’t resist throwing knives at Trump on CBS with Lesley Stahl

Senator Mitch McConnell is weighing in on President Donald Trump’s pardon of January 6 prisoners.

McConnell, who claimed that he cried on January 6 according to a biography of the lawmaker, is calling the president’s decision to pardon around 1,600 prisoners a “mistake.”

“I think pardoning people who’ve been convicted is a mistake,” he told Lesley Stahl on Sunday’s episode of CBS News’s 60 Minutes. About a dozen people who didn’t receive pardons were issued sentence commutations, drawing outrage from the left and those who believe the events of that day constitute an attack on America’s “democracy.”

Additionally, Trump ordered the Department of Justice to throw out all pending indictments against those awaiting prosecution which covered an estimated 470 defendants.

“Well, we haven’t spoken for quite a while. I was very upset about what happened January 6,” McConnell said when asked about his relationship with the president.

As BizPac Review previously reported, the long-serving party leader in Senate history wept to his staff after returning to his office on January 6, accusing Trump of being “practically and morally responsible” for the attack.

“You are my family, and I hate the fact that you had to go through this,” he reportedly said.

“It’s not just the Democrats who are counting the days” until the former president left office. He further claimed that Trump’s behavior following Biden’s win “only underscores the good judgment of the American people. They’ve had just enough of the misrepresentations, the outright lies almost on a daily basis, and they fired him,” McConnell said following former President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory over Trump.

“And for a narcissist like him, that’s been really hard to take, and so his behavior since the election has been even worse, by far, than it was before because he has no filter now at all.”

He has also referred to the president as being “stupid as well as being ill-tempered and can’t even figure out where his own best interests lie.”
