As the desperate search for a man suspected of shooting a New York Jets player intensifies, police have released new video.
Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was transported to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen following an alleged dispute outside of a restaurant at 2 a.m. on Sunday. He was listed in critical condition but is expected to survive, despite the bullet reportedly being lodged in his lung. Now, police are after the suspect they say is responsible for pulling the trigger.
Watch:
Police have released a brief video they say shows the shooter as he is trying to get away. He is dressed in all black with multi-colored sneakers.
There have not been many details released about Boyd or the investigation into the identity of the shooter.
X users have weighed in on the shocking act of violence, with some of them blaming New York leadership for the rampant crime that has desensitized many to incidents like this:
Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely.

The saddest part is how routine this feels.
A city this talented shouldn’t be this numb to violence.— Noah Lawrence (@IawrenceCapital) November 17, 2025
I would assume someone out there knows who he is and will end up turning him in. Once they got the face on camera these days, it’s over.

Let’s hope justice is served swiftly. Crime in big cities needs to be addressed aggressively.

This is a failure of leadership. Midtown Manhattan is not safe when violent crime is a daily threat. Law enforcement needs the resources to end this chaos immediately.

Man, he looks like 80 percent of the black men in New York.

One user even pointed out that the intense search for the criminal is “wasting time” as New York’s soft-on-crime approach will likely mean the man will be back out on the streets shortly after being apprehended:
Idk why the hell they’re wasting time posting his photo, because he’s gonna get released just 30 mins after getting caught…
