Pompeo slams Biden’s lopsided Brittney Griner swap, questions wisdom of trading ‘bad guys for celebrities’

For the most part, the Sunday morning talk shows were overflowing with the usual pro-Biden slop when it came to the president’s decision to deliver a big win to Vladimir Putin by exchanging the infamous Russian arm trafficker Viktor Bout for national anthem protesting WNBA star Brittney Griner, with one notable exception being on Fox News.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, a potential 2024 GOP presidential candidate appeared on “Fox News Sunday” where he discussed the controversial swap of the America-hating, dope-smoking black lesbian who was in clear violation of Russia’s harsh drug laws for the Tajikistani-born Bout whose nickname is the “Merchant of Death” and whose weaponry fueled numerous bloody conflicts as well as ended up in the hands of terrorists.

During his talk with anchor Shannon Bream, when asked about the Trump administration’s talks with Russia to free former Marine Paul Whelan who Biden abandoned to rot in favor of Griner, a decision influenced by her appeal to the Democratic party’s “woke” base, he declined to discuss any such discussions that may have taken place but that officials always had a “very clear” policy on exchanges.

Pompeo – who also headed up the CIA – added, “My mission was always to get every American back but at the same time, not create the risk that more Americans would be taken in.”

“We weren’t going to trade bad guys for celebrities because it creates the wrong incentives for the bad guys,” Pompeo said. “It’s not good for American national security, it’s not good for people who are traveling across the world.”

“If you take a celebrity, the chance of getting one of your bad guys out of American control is greater. I think for people of notoriety, it is more likely they will be taken today and that is not a good policy,” he said.

Pompeo previously slammed the possibility of a Biden administration trade of Griner AND Whelan for Bout during another Fox News appearance with host Dana Perino “America’s Newsroom” in July.

“He’s a bad guy. He is a guy who wanted to kill Americans. It presents a real risk to the United State,” he said. There’s a real reason the Russians want to get him home. To offer a trade like this is a dangerous precedent.”

“We want to get Brittney Griner home, we worked hard to get Paul Whelan home, we were unsuccessful at that,” he added. “We got lots of folks home Dana without doing this kind of thing, without offering up these kinds of dangerous people in prisoner swaps. This will only beget more Americans being taken on specious charges, much like Brittney Griner, much like Paul Whelan were taken right, these aren’t comparable.”

“This guy is a bad guy, moving arms around the world, threatening the United States of America, neither Paul Whelan nor Brittney Griner were engaged in that kind of activity,” Pompeo said.
