Pompeo spins funding Ukraine’s war as ‘helping America’ while Zelenskyy demands tanks NOW

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put a different spin on the enormously expensive support of Ukraine in its bloody war with neighboring Russia, suggesting that Americans who are weary of the endless shoveling of billions of taxpayer dollars into the war-torn country should look at it as “helping America.”

Pompeo, who has been making the media rounds in advance of a potential 2024 White House run, appeared on Fox News where he defended the ongoing military aid to Ukraine as the Biden regime is putting the finishing touches on sending a shipment of advanced M1 Abrams battle tanks and European countries mull sending additional arms to Kyiv.

On Tuesday’s edition of “America Reports,” Pompeo was asked about America’s blank check when it comes to underwriting Ukraine after Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) stated that the U.S. needs to be “all-in” in the rapidly escalating conflict that some have suggested could lead to World War III and a nuclear apocalypse if things spiral out of control.

“I think about it a little differently,” he said. “We should be helping America, and helping America means a sovereign nation that is prepared to defend itself from an invasion and an attack where civilians are being killed by Vladimir Putin is in America’s best interest for our economy, for our security, we should be doing everything the Ukrainians are asking us to do.”

“They haven’t asked us to send our soldiers. They haven’t asked for the 82nd Airborne. They’ve simply said, provide us the stuff we need and it is their lives that are at risk, and we, the Biden administration’s been afraid to win,” said Pompeo who is also hawking his new book “Never Give an Inch” which hit bookshelves on Tuesday.

“They’ve been afraid to provide the Ukrainians with the tools they need to be successful and this will end with a negotiated solution, we should get to that point as quickly as we can and the quickest way to end this war is to provide the Ukrainians with the military assets, the intelligence, that they need to actually push Vladimir Putin off the mark.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – a man accustomed to giving orders to America’s elected representatives – delivered a message that it is time to quit dithering and send the tanks.

“By the way, there is lot of talk about tanks now. About the modern tanks we need. And about how to fill this deficit.”Zelenskyy said in a video address upping pressure on western allies. “A lot of effort, words and promises.”

“But it is important to see the reality: It’s not about five, or ten or fifteen tanks. The need is greater,” he said. “Every day we are doing everything necessary to fill the deficit and I am grateful to everyone who supports us in this.”

“However, discussions need to end with decisions. Decisions to really strengthen our defense against terrorists.” Zelenskyy said, telling the politicians to get with it. “Our allies have the necessary number of tanks. When the necessary weight of decisions is reached we will be happy to express gratitude for every weighty decision.”
