President Donald J. Trump reportedly lit up Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) after she was one of a handful of Republicans who joined Democrats to back a war powers resolution tying his hands in Venezuela.
The longtime senator was on the receiving end of a blistering phone call from Trump, according to The Hill, which quoted another GOP senator who it declined to name, one of two anonymous sources for its story.
“He called her and then basically read her the riot act,” the unnamed Republican Senate member told the outlet, describing the alleged conversation as a “profanity-laced rant” with Trump doing the cussing.
The president told the so-called centrist that the 52-47 vote on the resolution limited him from performing his job as commander-in-chief.

“He was very mad about the vote,” the second source told The Hill. “Very mad. Very hot.”
Democrats threw a hissy fit after last weekend’s bold move when elite military commandos snatched Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife from his compound in Caracas and brought him to the U.S. to stand trial, a brilliantly executed operation that they decried as a violation of international law.
The party has repeatedly taken the side of drug traffickers and narco-terrorists during a period of heightened tensions with the Latin American country’s illicit regime.
While a Collins’ spox confirmed to The Hill that a call between the senator and the president took place, they did not provide further details.
Trump first reacted to the gang of renegade Republicans’ treachery in a smoking post to Truth Social after the vote went down.

“Republicans should be ashamed of the Senators that just voted with Democrats in attempting to take away our Powers to fight and defend the United States of America. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, and Todd Young should never be elected to office again,” he said in the Thursday post.
“This Vote greatly hampers American Self Defense and National Security, impeding the President’s Authority as Commander in Chief,” Trump added.“In any event, and despite their ‘stupidity,’ the War Powers Act is Unconstitutional, totally violating Article II of the Constitution, as all Presidents, and their Departments of Justice, have determined before me.”
The angry missive ruffled feathers from the usual RINOs who vented to The Hill, their preferred media source for airing their grievances.
“I would encourage the people around the president to understand what’s at stake in this election,” said retiring Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), whose opposition to Trump ended his own Senate career. “We’ve got several seats in play. We’ve got even more so in the House. This is a time for Republicans to put their differences behind closed doors and support each other.”
“The president, obviously, is unhappy with the vote,” Collins told reporters. “I guess this means that he would prefer to have Gov. Mills or somebody else with whom he’s not had a great relationship,” referring to Maine’s Democrat governor, who is also running for the seat, along with Bernie Sanders-backed leftist oyster farmer Graham Platner, who once sported a Nazi tattoo.
Trump has previously criticized Collins.
“Republicans, when in doubt, vote the exact opposite of Senator Susan Collins. Generally speaking, you can’t go wrong,” he wrote on Truth Social last July.
