A leftist podcaster expressed frustration over how many liberals would choose Tucker Carlson as president over Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Briahna Joy Gray criticized both options, though neither Carlson nor AOC has stated they are running for president, during a segment on her Bad Faith podcast last week. Gray, who served as national press secretary for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, lamented the “dynamic” and her own despair in how to advise fellow leftists.
“It’s crazy, I know many people on the left who would happily vote for Tucker Carlson before AOC,” Gray said.

“I am frustrated by that dynamic because I don’t want Tucker Carlson to be president. I also can’t see myself damaging my own credibility by telling someone to vote for AOC,” she added.
“These options hurt us all,” she told journalist Sana Saeed.
“I do think he has said a lot of bad stuff in the past, but just watching how the media has handled his, sort of rebirth the last few weeks with The New York Times interview,” she continued, referring to Carlson, who has recently had a public break with President Donald Trump.
“You have not done a good job running this country. You don’t even care to try,” Carlson said in a recent podcast episode.
“You’d rather run the world or the empire. You don’t want to improve Baltimore. You don’t care about Gary, Indiana. Rural America makes you sick… Normal leaders would ask themselves, ‘Why are people mad? What are they dissatisfied with? How can I help them? They’re clearly in pain,” he said.

“The way it’s clear that they think they can trump him, which is to say, take the approach of presuming that everyone who’s listening already agrees that he’s a very bad guy… say guilt by association,” Gray said, adding that “Tucker Carlson is nobody’s fool and for a while he has been smart enough to really use dog whistles where someone like Trump is more explicit.”
Saeed concurred, claiming, “If people really knew all this stuff about Tucker Carlson, I don’t think they’d go anywhere near him.”
After a lengthy discussion about Israel, Gray turned to the criticism of Ocasio-Cortez and said, “People are raising questions about whether or not she’s going to be the left’s sort of 2028 avatar.”
She went on to note that it is entirely reasonable for voters to “start poking” at the New York congresswoman’s “priorities.”
