Proudly racist Chicago mayor wants to wish everyone a ‘Happy Africa Day’ for Memorial Day

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson sparked outrage when he marked Memorial Day by posting a video to social media extending his wishes for his followers to have a “Happy Africa Day,” a brazen slight of the Windy City’s fallen heroes.

The embattled mayor took to Instagram over the holiday weekend to share the short clip in which he recognized the annual day set aside to celebrate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) while the rest of the nation was paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives so that America could remain a free country.

“Hello, I am Mayor Brandon Johnson, and I am proud to join you in recognizing and celebrating Africa Day. The continent of Africa is made up of 1.2 billion people with diverse countries full of rich traditions, cultures, and heritage. The African diaspora can be found in cities and countries around the globe,” Hizzoner began.

“Right here in Chicago, our proud African communities have made indelible contributions to the growth and fabric of our amazing city. So this Africa Day, let us take a moment to celebrate the achievements of the people of Africa, the progress made by African nations, and the traditions and culture they have shared with us. And let us also show them that we will embrace and support them as they continue to overcome and face their challenges head-on,” Johnson continued.

“Thank you, and Happy Africa Day, everyone,” the former social studies teacher concluded.

In addition to recognizing the heritage and culture of the “Dark Continent,” Mayor Johnson also gave a shout-out to the “Latine community” in honor of the Sueños Music Festival, which was held in Grant Park in another Instagram post.

X users shared their takes on Johnson’s celebration of a foreign land while ignoring American heroes who paid the ultimate price so he can be free to be insensitive.

In just two years on the job, the Windy City Democrat has compiled an impressive resume of racist remarks and conduct, with his recent boasting about how he engages in racially discriminatory hiring practices getting him in hot water with the federal government.

Last week, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said that it had opened an investigation to “determine whether it has engaged in a pattern or practice of racial discrimination,” reacting to his remarks at the Apostolic Church of God, where he bragged about staffing top positions with black people.

“So, Business and Economic Neighborhood Development, the deputy mayor, is a black woman. Department of Planning and Development is a black woman. Infrastructure, deputy mayor, is a black woman. Chief Operations Officer is a black man. Budget Director is a black woman. Senior Advisor is a black man,” he told the crowd in the pews.

“If these kinds of hiring decisions are being made for top-level positions in your administration, then it begs the question whether such decisions are also being made for lower-level positions,” wrote Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon in a letter to Johnson.

“This is a clear demonstration of not just animus, but intimidation,” the racist mayor said during an MSNBC appearance over the weekend after he called President Donald J. Trump a “monster” when he was asked about his discrimination against white people.
