Racial tensions rise after teen girl, 15, bashes fellow student’s head into ground during brutal beatdown

A disturbing video of a black teen repeatedly slamming a white teenage girl’s head into a sidewalk is making the rounds online in large part due to the sheer brutality on display.

The incident took place last Friday in Hazelwood, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, and the Hazelwood East High School student was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, according to KSDK.

The victim suffered a “severe head injury” and began having what appeared to be a seizure as other teens continued brawling. Students are seen in the video looking on, but no one comes to the aid of the girl.

The Hazelwood School District offers our sincerest condolences to everyone involved, and will offer additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need,” the school district said in a statement.

“We look forward to continuing to partner with our community for the sake of our children. Please be kind and respectful of the families involved during this difficult time and pledge to help work toward the betterment of our entire community.”

James Clark, vice president of Public Safety and Community Response at the Urban League, spoke with the NBC affiliate about the urgent need for intervention among young people.

“That’s a glimpse into the mentality and the culture of our young people today,” Clark said. “The social pressure is to be socially dysfunctional. Who can be the loudest? Who can be the most disruptive?”

Libs of TikTok pointed out in a tweet, “Just 5% of students in this school are proficient in Math and just 21% in reading.”
