Reactions pour in after Biden uses first veto to override bipartisan ESG investment legislation

President Joe Biden proved that there is no greater defender of the “woke” cultural revolution when he celebrated the use of the first veto of his White House tenure to resoundingly reject bipartisan legislation that would have prevented environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors to be taken into consideration in the retirement plan investments of Americans, a major blow to a populace already battered by his disastrous policies.

On Monday, the nation’s 46th president made good on his vows to reject any rollback of the left-wing agenda by a meddlesome Congress that last week advanced the bill that would reverse a controversial Labor Department rule pressuring private retirement plans to consider ESG as a major factor in deciding how to invest other people’s money, potentially depriving investors of what will be much-needed income in their working careers by prioritizing the ideological crusade of those who seek to permanently change the existing system.

The divider-in-chief couldn’t simply veto the bill which passed the Senate with Democrat support, he had to instead make a big production out of it in a video posted to Twitter to twist the knife into the backs of “MAGA Republicans,” even singling out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) by name.

“I just vetoed my first bill. This bill would risk your retirement savings by making it illegal to consider risk factors MAGA House Republicans don’t like. Your plan manager should be able to protect your hard-earned savings — whether Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene likes it or not,” Biden tweeted along with the short video.

In the 50-46 vote, Democrat Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana joined their GOP colleagues to send the bill to Biden’s desk where the 80-year-old career politician took great pleasure in killing it.

Republicans reacted to Biden’s veto and unseemly gloating, just another in a growing collection of examples of how he blatantly lied when he promised Americans that he would be a unifier during his presidential campaign.

“In his first veto, Biden just sided with woke Wall Street over workers. Tells you exactly where his priorities lie,” tweeted GOP Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy. “Now—despite a bipartisan vote to block his ESG agenda—it’s clear Biden wants Wall Street to use your retirement savings to fund his far-left political causes.”

“Biden’s veto is why I formed an alliance of freedom-loving states to combat the threat posed by ESG,” said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. “Now with Virginia, our 20-state coalition will protect our citizens against powerful economic actors using their financial might to impose an ideological agenda.”

“Of course Biden’s first veto is one that will allow woke financial institutions to put the pursuit of left-wing political policies above the financial security of American seniors and families,” tweeted Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas.

“The fact that Biden’s first veto is about promoting ESG reveals the problem: this isn’t the invisible hand of the “free market.” It’s the invisible fist of government. Don’t fall for their trick,” wrote 2024 GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy.

Rep. Brian Mast of Florida wrote, “Biden just used his first veto to override a bipartisan bill that would protect retirement savings and investments from ESG woke mandates. His far left agenda is more important to him than the seniors he was elected to represent.”

“President Biden’s ESG veto shows that he cares more about left-wing special interest groups and the green lobby than he does about retirees,” tweeted Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) of Biden’s stabbing retirees in the back.

Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.) also tore into the POTUS, pledging to join a coming effort to override Biden’s cruel veto.

Senator Joe Manchin also blasted the veto in a statement ripping Biden’s siding with radicals by “choosing to put his Administration’s progressive agenda above the well-being of the American people.”

“This Administration continues to prioritize their radical policy agenda over the economic, energy and national security needs of our country, and it is absolutely infuriating,” the moderate Dem said. “West Virginians are under increasing stress as we continue to recover from a once in a generation pandemic, pay the bills amid record inflation, and face the largest land war in Europe since World War II. The Administration’s unrelenting campaign to advance a radical social and environmental agenda is only exacerbating these challenges.”

Manchin’s fellow Democrats delighted in Biden’s veto and reveled in the owning of the Republicans at the expense of retirees.

“This veto was totally appropriate,” crowed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) who represents Wall Street investment houses. “For House Republicans to tell American companies they cannot pursue profits and societal goals when they wish to would be counterproductive and un-American.”

Climate cult zealot Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts hailed the victory Green New Deal agenda.

“The President vetoed the bill because it jeopardizes the hard-earned life savings of cops, firefighters, teachers, and other workers – all in service of an extreme, MAGA Republican ideology,” said White House spokesperson Robyn Patterson in a statement.
