Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) was the only Democrat who had the stones to challenge President Joe Biden for the 2024 nomination and now he’s been vindicated after the party elite drop-kicked the octogenarian into retirement.
The Minnesota lawmaker who warned about Biden’s rapid deterioration before the primaries took a victory lap and ripped his congressional colleagues for being “cowards” for not speaking up about the 81-year-old’s senility, which was obvious well before last month’s CNN debate.
Phillips appeared on Newsmax this week after the geriatric career politician gave up the ghost and endorsed VP Kamala Harris as his successor, telling host Greta Van Susteren that it was “just a matter of when” until the ugly truth about Biden would be revealed to the American people.

“I knew this was a conversation we were going to have to have at some point. It wasn’t a matter of if, it was just a matter of when, so it saddens me that it took this long,” he said. “He served the country beautifully, I think, for 50 years, and it’s kind of a sad way to end one’s tenure and I hope tonight we all take a moment and reflect on that.”
“My intention was to have that debate, at least in a primary setting, many, many months before. I’d seen that decline, my colleagues had seen that decline,” Phillips stated when asked by the host why it took as long as it did for Democrats to have a debate over Biden’s fitness for office for another term.
“Why didn’t anybody speak up though?” Van Susteren asked, seeking an answer for the resistance to what was obvious, especially conservative media which has spent years pointing out that Biden was a shell of the man he used to be.
Phillips couched his answer in “muh Trump” and more of the whataboutism that his party specializes in.
“I’ll be forthright,” he replied. “First, I saw this disease, the culture of silence, the disease of silence, I saw it first amongst my Republican colleagues during Trump’s presidency. Many of them would excoriate him privately, and then get in front of the cameras and just count the blessings and tell people how much they loved him and supported him.”
“And then I saw the same thing on my side, where people would express concern about his abilities and his decline privately, and then get in front of the cameras and say everything is fine. But that’s part of the rewards system in Congress,” he continued. “We are rewarded for being cowards and punished for being courageous, and that’s how this game works. You wanna keep your seat? You wanna ascend the leadership ladder? You wanna run for Senate or president some day? You gotta play the game, you gotta stay in line, you gotta be part of the team. That’s not what this entire country was founded on. It’s just the opposite.”
In February, before all of the primaries had been rigged in Biden’s favor, Phillips took to X to blast his fellow Democrats.
“I’m attacked for being honest and saying the quiet part out loud – the part DC insiders only do in private,” he wrote. “I admire our President. I voted for him and campaigned for him. He has visited my home and been gracious to my family and our country.”

“But shame on all of you pretending everything is ok. You are leading us – and him – into a disaster, and you damn well know it,” Phillips warned.
The party’s far-left extremists will squeeze every last drop of juice out of Biden now, getting him to use his final months in office to cram through a wish list of their wettest dreams using executive orders, with the “reform” of the Supreme Court first on their list.
