The state of Georgia saw record voter turnout last week in the runup to Tuesday’s primary election, a feat that undercut all the pearl-clutching liberals who cried racism and voter suppression in the face of the Republican-led state legislature passing a law to shore up the voting process.
Even The Washington Post had to take note of the outcome defying these politically motivated smears.
“But after three weeks of early voting ahead of Tuesday’s primary, record-breaking turnout is undercutting predictions that the Georgia Election Integrity Act of 2021 would lead to a falloff in voting,” the newspaper reported. “By the end of Friday, the final day of early in-person voting, nearly 800,000 Georgians had cast ballots — more than three times the number in 2018, and higher even than in 2020, a presidential year.
Townhall political editor Guy Benson took to Twitter to share what the chyrons on MSNBC and CNN were saying about the turnout in comparison to what the networks were saying last year about Georgia’s new election laws:
CNN graphic just now marvels at record-smashing turnout “despite law restricting voting.”
Yes, “restricting voting” suppressed the early primary vote total from 230k four years ago to…857k this year.

Benson also shared a chyron offering Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’ take on the Peach State’s new laws not being restrictive:
2018: 320k early/absentee votes in GA primaries
2021: Jim Crow on Steroids/voter suppression implemented in GA
2022: 857k early/absentee votes in GA primaries

What’s more, the left is STILL making these false claims — unchecked — on the airwaves. Benson retweeted a clip of MSNBC harpy Nicolle Wallace ranting about racist Republicans “taking away access to the polls” and citing the reporting of NBC News journalist/Democratic activist Yamiche Alcindor to support the fabrication.
This apparently being responsible programming in the eyes of NBCUniversal News Group, which owns MSNBC, and Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal.
This casual, false racial smear would be unhinged from a commentator. She is ostensibly a reporter. https://t.co/5wbQqPVqxm

Of course, the Democratic faithful insist that outcome in Georgia was in spite of a tainted process:
Wow. So people are beating a system put in place. It doesn’t discount that that system was designed to make it harder for them.

Just because people overcome obstacles doesn’t mean those obstacles didn’t exist.

On the other hand, rational folks had a different take:
So much for Jim Crow 2.0.. 🙄

I thought it was hard to vote in GA now.

I can’t believe how hard it was for me to vote! I walked up, showed my driver’s license and was done in 10 minutes. It should have taken less than 5…what a sham!

Georgian here. We got like a month of early voting. I went in no lines at all, tons of help. Lady checked my ID and I was good to go.

Goes to show you that those claims of voting hardship were all false.
