Democrat politicians claim that requiring voter ID is akin to advancing an “extremist, white supremacist agenda,” never mind that 71% of their base supports the idea — according to Pew Research Center, 83% of Americans favor requiring voters to show ID to vote, including 95% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats.
The Republican-led House passed the SAVE America Act this week, which would require proof-of-citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections, and would also require voters to show photo identification when voting and when requesting a mail-in ballot.
Only one Democrat voted for the bill, U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas). The rest of his caucus opposed the legislation, which prompted U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) to point out one helluva irony here: “213 Democrats just used their photo id to vote against photo ids in elections.”

“It’s just common sense. Americans need an ID to drive, to open a bank account, to buy cold medicine, to file government assistance,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters. “So why would voting be any different than that?”
“This has become a bitter partisan fight and it’s madness to us,” Johnson added. “We’re hoping that some Democrats in the Senate will come to their senses and do the right thing for the people.”
The bill now goes to the Senate, where Democrats cry about voter suppression, and Republicans continue to drag their feet on ensuring election integrity.
