According to reporting by an independent journalist operating out of Chicago, the city appears to be housing huge numbers of migrants/illegal aliens in upscale hotels.
On Tuesday, reporter William J. Kelly filmed himself entering the Inn of Chicago — an upscale hotel that reportedly charges $239 per night — to book a room, only to be turned away and told to leave as migrants shuffled past him into the hotel.
Watch:
I was JUST turned away at Downtown #Chicago‘s luxury migrant hotel near the Magnificent Mile. The hotel’s manager yelled at me that the hotel is CLOSED FOR YOU but it isn’t closed to #migrants. The standard room normally goes for $239/night but I bet Chicago taxpayers are footing… pic.twitter.com/2x47kVxwQg

“You can’t come in here. … It’s private. … It’s closed. … It’s closed for you,” the hotel’s management told him.
“It’s a private area, so therefore it’s private. You’re not a resident here,” they added before calling 911 on him.
As they spoke with him, migrants shuffled past him. Kelly tried speaking with some of them, but none of them appeared to know English.
“This hotel, online it says that it’s closed, yet a tremendously large number of people are going in and out,” the reporter at one point remarked to the camera.
That the city is now evidently housing migrants in upscale hotels isn’t necessarily shocking. New York City has been doing the same thing for quite some time now.

Moreover, this development comes as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott continues to ship migrants from Texas up to Chicago and other left-wing metropolitan locations. Indeed, in a letter sent this week to outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Abbott vowed to keep shipping the illegals north. In defending this position, he pointed to the policies of President Joe Biden, a Democrat.
“The ongoing border and humanitarian crisis that Texas and the entire United States are grappling with is a direct result of President Biden’s open-border policies,” he wrote.
“Under the previous administration, illegal immigration was at its lowest levels in decades. Now, President Biden is preparing to open the floodgates by ending Title 42 expulsions next week, and Texas is on the frontlines of this catastrophe,” he added.
And that’s why, he continued, it’s become necessary to ship the migrants up north.
“You are right that ‘this situation is completely untenable,’ but this is not a Texas problem—this is a problem for the entire United States of America,” he wrote.
“To provide much-needed relief to our overrun border communities, Texas began busing migrants to sanctuary cities such as your ‘Welcoming City,’ along with Washington, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia, with more to come. Until Biden secures the border to stop the inflow of mass migration, Texas will continue this necessary program,” Abbott added.
If Chicago Mayor Lightfoot truly wants to “work together to find a real solution” to the border crisis, she must call on President Biden to secure the border.
This is not a Texas problem — it’s a problem for the entire United States.

Truth be told, what Chicago is currently experiencing is just a fraction of what border cities have had to deal with since the day Biden assumed office in 2021.
That said, Chicago officials aren’t used to migrants flooding their city, so they’re having to put out all the stops to handle the current crisis. On Tuesday, for example, Fox News reported that the city has begun turning some of its police stations into migrant shelters.
“Chicago police sources say that their stations have become shelters for migrants, with at least two police precinct lobbies housing asylum seekers. The sources [said] that migrants have been sleeping in the stations’ entryways. The immigrants, who do not have access to showers or adequate bathrooms, are often sick and vomiting,” according to Fox News.
“While Chicago Police Department (CPD) sources said they sympathize with the migrants, the officials believe it shines a light on the nationwide immigration crisis. Chicago has been a ‘sanctuary city’ for more than five years,” Fox News reported.
“This is a dangerous situation that arose from their ridiculous sanctuary city policy. They clearly do not have a plan to deal with it and they’re placing the cops once again in undue risk,” one source told the network.
“A couple of weeks ago there was a Venezuelan family who is sitting on the floor next to homeless people with a baby. I gave them twenty bucks and I asked my team to give them money as well,” another source said.
The sources are particularly worried that the migrants don’t realize just how dangerous the streets of Chicago happen to be.
“Yesterday when I left, there was an eleven-year-old girl sitting on the floor by herself. I try to explain to them not to go outside because my station is in a very bad neighborhood,” one source said.
