Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles is not playing when it comes to border protection.
The emerging Tennessee firebrand plans to introduce a bill as a continuation of President Donald Trump’s travel restrictions in 2017.
The new bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to stop the admission of foreigners from select, predominantly Muslin countries, as well as a “handful of U.S. adversaries,” Fox News reported.
The bill titled the “Halt Immigration from Countries with Inadequate Verification Capabilities Act” (HICIVA) comes amid global tensions during “Operation Epic Fury,” which has taken out most, if not all, of Iran’s leadership.
HICIVA singles out the countries of Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen, and describes those countries as places “where the government or prevailing conditions do not allow for reliable verification of the identities, backgrounds, or intentions” of those who wish to visit the U.S.
The proposed bill comes after the deadly shooting in Austin, Texas, where a man wearing a “property of Allah” shirt went on a killing spree, leaving three dead and over a dozen injured. Authorities have not yet claimed a motive for the random attack.
“Mass Islamic immigration, legal or illegal, has transformed America and brought destructive consequences,” Ogles said.
“America’s moral exemplar is a meek carpenter who rose from the dead, not a warmonger with 12 wives and countless slaves. My bill will preserve this truth.”
Ogles has also been busy making the case for stricter immigration on X, where he’s called out “sanctuary city” Nashville.
