Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. spoke during a NewsNation town hall on Wednesday and bluntly refused to pledge his support for President Biden over a Republican in the 2024 presidential race if he doesn’t get the nomination.

“As a lifelong Democrat, as you just said very passionately, will you pledge to support whoever the Democratic nominee is?” moderator Elizabeth Vargas asked Kennedy. “Whoever it is, whether it’s you, whether it’s President Biden?”
“Of course, I’m not gonna do that,” RFK Jr. told a visibly surprised Vargas.
“You’re not gonna do that?” Vargas incredulously asked, prompting Kennedy to respond, “No, of course.”
“If you don’t get the nomination, you won’t support President Biden?” she repeated.
Kennedy responded, “I don’t know what I’ll do.”

Supposedly “smart” people don’t even understand what a primary election is or what the secondary purpose of it is.

“Let’s see what happens in this campaign. Let’s see, you know if people are living up to Democratic values, and having debates, and having discussions,” he added.
Vargas then asked him if he would “support a Republican or run as an independent” if he loses the Democratic primary and the winner doesn’t live up to “Democratic values.”
He confidently replied, “My plan is to win this election and I don’t have a Plan B.”
During the town hall, Kennedy also commented that he was proud of former President Trump’s praise of him because he wants to bring all Americans together.

Vargas pointed out that Kennedy has been “getting a lot of support from a lot of leading voices on the right like Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, former President Donald Trump,” despite the fact that he’s a Democrat.
“Many Democrats fear that you’re a spoiler in the race, that you will damage President Biden in the primary and grease the skids for former President Trump to return to the Oval Office,” she told Kennedy. “This week, former President Trump said about you, ‘Kennedy is smart and he’s a common sense guy.’ What kind of man do you think Donald Trump is?”
Kennedy remarked, “Here’s what I’m not gonna do in this race. I’m not gonna attack other people personally. I don’t think it’s good for our country.”
“I’m proud that President Trump likes me, even though I don’t agree with him on most of his issues, because I don’t wanna alienate people,” he stated.

“I want to bring people together. I’m proud that all these people like me and that I have independent supporters and Democratic supporters,” Kennedy commented. “Every Democrat says, ‘I want to end the polarization,’ but how do you do that without talking to people who don’t agree with you?”
I have been Team Trump but this guy is VERY appealing. We need to heal as a country and he gives me some hope. Very likeable guy

Trump praised Kennedy as a “smart” and “good man” on Monday, telling radio host Howie Carr that he and RFK Jr. both shared an affinity for “common sense.”
“Bobby Kennedy, he’s getting — he’s a Democrat from the ‘First Family’ they used to call it, and he’s taking almost as much heat as you are from fake news. What would you tell Bobby Kennedy?” Carr asked Trump.
“Just hang in — I mean they go after you. He’s been very nice to me, I’ve actually had a very nice relationship with him over the years. He’s a very smart guy and a good guy. He said that Trump’s the greatest debater and you can’t just [inaudible] going against Trump. I was very honored by the fact that he said that, glad he feels that,” the former president said.

“But he’s a very good man and his heart is in the right place and he’s doing really well! I saw a poll, he’s at 22. That’s pretty good, that’s pretty good. Doing very well,” Trump added.
A Fox News poll currently shows that Kennedy is polling at 17% while President Biden is at 64%.
