Political consultant and lobbyist Roger Stone dismissed the “nonsensical” and “absurd” claims that he once discussed assassinating Democrat members of Congress before the 2020 election.
The longtime Republican operative reacted to a hit piece that claimed in “audio of the conversation obtained exclusively by Mediaite,” Stone was heard in the 2020 recording talking with his friend, then-NYPD officer Sal Greco at a Fort Lauderdale restaurant in Florida about a plot against Reps. Jerry Nadler and Eric Swalwell.
“It’s time to do it,” Stone allegedly told Greco. “Let’s go find Swalwell. It’s time to do it. Then we’ll see how brave the rest of them are. It’s time to do it. It’s either Nadler or Swalwell has to die before the election. They need to get the message. Let’s go find Swalwell and get this over with. I’m just not putting up with this sh-t anymore.”
The 71-year-old, who was convicted in the Mueller investigation and later pardoned by then-President Donald Trump, has long been a target of those who continue to attack Trump.
Back in 2020, Nadler had rebuked the decision to have Stone pardoned.
“A jury found Roger Stone guilty. By commuting his sentence, President Trump has infected our judicial system with partisanship and cronyism and attacked the rule of law,” he wrote on what was Twitter at the time. “@HouseJudiciary will conduct an aggressive investigation into this brazen corruption.”
After Mediaite reported on the alleged audio recording, Stone came out swinging.
He slammed the report as “total nonsense” in a comment to the Daily Mail
EXCLUSIVE- LEFT WING MEDIAITE FAILS TO PRODUCE OR POST AUDIO OF TAPE WHERE THEY ALLEGE FALSELY THAT I PLOTTED TO ASSASSINATE POLITICAL OPPONENTS BECAUSE THEY DON’T EXIST -OR CAN’T PASS ANALYSIS FOR AUTHENTICITY ( AI) #FakeNews pic.twitter.com/xyKhQ8gz1S

He called out the lack of proof in further remarks.
“If there is such an audio, why don’t they post it? Why won’t they send it to me? If there is such an audio it would have to be illegally obtained and if there is such an audio it would have to be an AI generated fraud since I never said any of the words attributed to me,” Stone told Daily Mail in a statement.
He slammed the hit piece for its lack of pertinent details.
“What was Officer Greco’s response to my alleged comments? Gee, they don’t say. From an anonymous source? Sure. It’s a fraud. I’m click-bait,” Stone declared.
He went on to blast Mediaite as a “left-wing rag” while calling out the “reckless” attempt to smear him with allegations.
“Why would anyone believe Mediate, a left-wing rag with a long history of falsely vilifying me?” Stone said in his statement to Daily Mail.
“Why would anyone believe their unproven claim of where and when this alleged conversation took place or who was present never mind the content? Three years ago? It’s false, irresponsible and reckless,” he said.
