Hopes of seeing a hatchet taken to government waste could well come true as an icon of Libertarians expressed his interest in working alongside Elon Musk in a second Trump administration.
“LETS END THE FED!!”
The 2024 campaign of former President Donald Trump has repeatedly proven itself a unifying force, pitting freedom-loving Americans from across the political spectrum against the establishment. On Friday, that team had drawn the support of the straw poll favorite, two-time White House hopeful, and longtime Texas congressman, Dr. Ron Paul.
As Musk had signaled a role in a future administration, going as far as to suggest budget cuts up to $2 trillion in an effort to eliminate government waste, the former lawmaker voiced his favor of being a part of the initiative.
On X, the tech entrepreneur had posted, “Would be great to have Ron Paul as part of the Department of Government Efficiency!” earning a response from the Libertarian constitutionalist, “I’d be happy to talk with you about it, Elon.”

Known for being a crusader against the Federal Reserve, Paul had appeared on David Gornoski’s podcast Thursday where he had been asked about advising the world’s richest man about cutting wasteful spending at the federal level.
In response, the father of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R) expressed, “Well I would…Everybody would know what I believe and there’d be no secrets, but I wouldn’t want an official position, you know, because I’ve sort of steered away from getting too involved in the politics of it all right now.”
“I always say young people that were in high school and college, when I was doing all the campaigning, [were] a receptive audience,” he continued.
Having voiced support for Republican vice presidential nominee Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance’s spoken position on injustices of the Federal Reserve, Paul went on to add, “You know a position is easy to have and to hold. But the truth is, you know, what if I did get in this position and all I had to do is sign a piece of paper and the Federal Reserve was eliminated, or you cut the budget by $2 trillion well, what the consequences would be is total chaos and probably civil war and all that.”
Before going on to invite Musk on to his “Liberty Report” podcast for an appearance on Election Day Eve, the champion for smaller government had reacted to a meme posted by the billionaire that depicted their heads superimposed on the bodies of characters from the 1999 film “Office Space” asking “What would you say you do here?”
Adding the caption, “Department of Government Efficiency,” Musk had earned the response, “Start cutting?” from Paul as supporters across social media began sounding off on the possibility of seeing a figurative chainsaw taken to spending in Washington, D.C. akin to cuts under Argentinian President Javier Milei.

This alone could get me to vote for trump if Ron Paul gets a large role

I can’t imagine anything scarier for a federal employee than being called into an office and seeing Elon Musk and Ron Paul on the other side of the table. As a voter and taxpayer, I can’t think of anything more delicious.
